  • Patent number: 4721421
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool consists of a cutting body portion having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of blades separated by flutes extending the length of the cutting body portion. Each of the blades have a leading face side, a trailing face side, and a relieved land surface bridging the leading face side and trailing face side. The relieved land surfaces are interrupted by a plurality of spaced V-shaped notches to form a plurality of cutting edges at the intersection of the leading face side and the relieved land surface. The plurality of spaced V-shaped notches further define a plurality of cutting teeth having a leading face edge, a trailing face edge, and a flat land therebetween. A notch relief groove generates a positive relief at the plurality of cutting edges, leading face edges, and trailing face edges such that the cutting performance of the rotary cutting tool is significantly enhanced.

  • Patent number: 4645887
Abstract: A pressure differential bypass sensor switch that utilizes the change in piston of a permanent magnet that is carried by a reciprocable position to actuate the switching element of an axial travel switch by the change in magnetic forces that act on the switching element as a result of the change in position of the reciprocable piston and the permanent magnet. Opposite sides of the piston are exposed, respectively, to the high pressure and low pressure sides of a filter in a liquid circulating system, and the piston is normally positioned at the high pressure side of a passage in which it travels by a spring that acts on it from the low pressure side. As the filter becomes clogged the pressure drop across it and, therefore, across the piston will increase, and the piston is calibrated so that an excessive pressure drop will drive it to the low pressure side.

  • Patent number: 4478731
Abstract: A process for the production of an aqueous lubricant composition free of oil including water and at least one metallic carboxylate, wherein the anionic is at least one saturated linear organic radical containing at least 12 carbon atoms and the cationic is at least one bivalent or trivalent metal having an electro-chemical oxidation-reduction potential greater than -0.7 volts. The process includes mixing of two mother solutions. The first mother solution is an aqueous solution of at least one alkali metal carboxylate soluble in water wherein the anionic is at least one saturated linear organic radical with at least 12 carbon atoms. The second mother solution is an aqueous solution of at least one metallic salt whereof the anionic is selected from the group consisting of hydroxide, chloride, sulphate, nitrate or phosphate ions and whereof the cationic is at least one bivalent or trivalent metal having an electro-chemical oxidation reduction potential greater than -0.70 volts.

  • Patent number: 4450766
Abstract: Substantially triangular shaped register marks are applied to respective plate cylinders of a multicolor printing machine. Each register mark is made up of a first side extending laterally of axial direction of a plate cylinder and a second inclined side extending downwardly to an end of the first side. Rotation of register marks is detected by a photoelectric detector and a rotary encoder rotating in synchronism with respective plate cylinders generates a reference pulse and a rotation pulse having a shorter period than the reference pulse. Based on the reference pulse, the rotation pulse and an output of the photoelectric detector, a leading edge time difference signal and a trailing edge time difference signal are formed and then integrated by integrators. In response to outputs of the integrators the peripheral direction and the lateral direction of the respective plate cylinders are adjusted.
