  • Patent number: 5748762
Abstract: A fast process for two-dimensional nesting of cut patterns to be cut from a sheet material such as natural and artificial leather or hide, or fabric is proposed. The proposed process of nesting incorporates heuristic rules for the initial placement of cut patterns represented at the lowest resolution. After the initialization process, the process exhaustively finds the best solution at the initial resolution. The final stage involves a multi-agent method that is hierarchical in nature. The hierarchical steps involve obtaining a feasible solution at the current resolution in which local information is used from each cut pattern to minimize a locally defined penalty function. This procedure is terminated when the desired/goal resolution is reached. This allows for a general method for parallel implementation of the multi-agent optimization scheme in which achievement of a solution occurs in a very rapid and efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 5463789
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a paint roller bumper for a paint roller device. It is specifically for such a device which has a handle, an extended, curved rod and a roller. The curved rod extends from the handle with a lower portion extending directly away from the handle, a middle portion extending away from the lower portion, an upward portion extending from said middle portion in a direction which is at a right angle from a roller, and a top portion extending from the upward portion, as well as a roller rotatably mounted on the top portion of the rod. The bumper has a main bumper body with a lower section and an upper section and has adequate length so as to extend beyond the mounted roller on the described paint roller device when the bumper is mounted on an upward portion of a rod of such a paint roller device.

  • Patent number: 5372285
Abstract: The present invention involves a dispenser. The dispenser includes a main hollow housing with side walls, a base and an open top which contains a manifold component for dispensing material therethrough. At least one vertical support column is included within the hollow housing and it has horizontal ratchets thereon as well as a push plate located at its top. A trigger component is also contained within the housing and it is formed of plastic material with at least one flexible portion therein. It acts as a trigger, a ratcheting member and a spring, and is strategically positioned in a hinged manner such that a side wall cut-out or other member holding the trigger component against the vertical support column ratchets may be rotated inwardly and released outwardly to cause the ratcheting mechanism to advance the support column.
