  • Patent number: 4220533
Abstract: A disc is rotatably mounted in a position to be partially exposed to, or immersed in, a liquid. Slow rotation of the disc causes liquid adhering to the disc to move upward into a position where wipers remove most of the adhering film, and divert it into a drainage trough or collector. In the simplest form of the invention, the disc is of magnetic-responsive material, and the wipers are flexible strips having permanent magnetism.

  • Patent number: 4210305
Abstract: A form system for constructing concrete walls is assembled from groups of laterally-interconnected units that are spaced to define the opposite surfaces of the wall. Tie systems traverse the space and matching edge discontinuities in adjacent units, with the pressure of the poured concrete being transferred from the form units to the tie systems by cross pins directly intersecting components of the tie systems and the marginal frame members of the units at the edge discontinuities. Transverse frame members provide mounting points for studs that interengage to laterally locate a pair of form units placed back-to-back, and members provide protected storage positions for tie components when they are not in use. Handles, and also fastenings securing panels to the frames, are positioned within the space enclosed by the frames to avoid interference in the back-to-back storage position of the units.

  • Patent number: 4188700
Abstract: The cylindrical rotating grate of an attrition mill is constructed by welding a group of bars in close spaced parallel relationship, and then rolling this assembly into a cylindrical configuration. The meeting ends of this configuration are then welded, and an opening is preferably cut from the rolled assembly. The area cut out in the process of forming the opening is used as a cover. The grate structure includes solid abutments interengageable with the cover to hold the cover in position against the large forces encountered during the operation of the mill, with relatively light securing means adapted to hold the cover in engagement with these abutments. A housing surrounding the rotating grate is provided with an opening through which the machine is charged with material, and this opening is covered by a curtain preferably provided with battens and a weight to hold it in position. A vacuum is applied to the interior housing for the removal of dust, which assists in holding the curtain in position.

  • Patent number: 4186882
Abstract: A manually deformable container utilizes air pressure resulting from squeezing the container to project a jet of liquid. Some of the pressurized air is ejected around the liquid jet to assist in atomization. A nozzle unit is supported on a transverse perforate plate preferably interposed between the container and a threaded closure member defining an air-discharge orifice around the end of the nozzle. Alignment of the nozzle with respect to the orifice is provided by either a lateral shiftability of the plate, a self-centering action of the plate in the container, or by a diaphragm deflection of the plate as the nozzle may tilt in finding its own way into the air orifice. An axial diaphragm deflection of the plate is used to provide a resilient seal of the liquid nozzle by tightening a screw cap against a projecting end of the nozzle, preferably followed by a sealing of the air orifice as the cap is further tightened.

  • Patent number: 4154683
Abstract: A machine for separating an oil film from a supporting liquid elevates the oil from its original position with an endless belt, and then transfers the oil from the belt to a rotating disc from which it is wiped into a drainage trough. The belt system is driven from the disc, and is constructed as an attachment to a self-contained disc machine capable of functioning without the belt system when the disc can intersect the surface of the liquid. The unit is thus adaptable to installations where the liquid level is far below the rim of the accumulating tank where the machine is mounted, and where there is substantial variation in the liquid level.

  • Patent number: 4152374
Abstract: A container of water is subject to reduced air pressure to induce an inflow of air through conduits extending from the exterior of the container to a point below the level of the water in the container. Air entering through these conduits bubbles up through the water. The size of the bubbles is controlled by the ports at which the air moving in the conduits enters the water. The blower providing the reduced pressure delivers the moisture-ladened air from the bubbles to the intake of another blower providing combustion air for a burner installation. The minute quantities of vapor-ladened air are mixed in that blower, or in the blower intake chamber, with the remainder of the incoming combustion air. The supply of vapor is related to the firing rate in the burner by associating the burner control with the off-on condition of a valve in at least one of a plurality of air conduits of the container.

  • Patent number: 4151975
Abstract: Wall form panels with flanges along adjacent edges are joined by a channel strip traversed at the base of the channel by tie systems securing opposite panel assemblies in spaced parallel relationship to receive concrete between them. Securing bolts or wedge pins traverse the adjacent flanges and the walls of the junction channel, and the tie systems are cross-pinned to the assembly to positively establish the spacing of the opposite panel assemblies. A series of tie system components is preferably sub-assembled to the channel so that this separately-connected group of parts can be handled as one unit as it is interposed between the edges of the form panels, and held in place by the panel-securing fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4146405
Abstract: A complete dishwasher and sink assembly, including equipment usually installed separately, forms a unit that can be inserted in a cut-out in a countertop, and supported and secured in position at a peripheral flange. The connections to the associated utilities are positioned for maximum convenience to standard locations. A sink is pivotally mounted to provide a cover for the dishwasher chamber, and stiffener-deflector arrangements are provided to assure that the interior spray does not produce leakage out to the countertop through ventilation passages at the peripheral flange. Spray is applied to racks of dishes, preferably from rotating spray heads mounted on a movable carrier, with the supply of water to the spray heads being conducted via the hollow interior of the carrier and also the hollow interior of a sequence of interconnected links. The rotatable spray heads are also hollow, with molded projections forming directional jet orifices.
