  • Patent number: 6175440
Abstract: A laser beam display includes at least a first and second plurality of laser beam sources, each of which may preferably be an array of semiconductor lasers, providing a plurality of laser beams in an optical path so as to reflect off of reflective facets of a movable reflector and illuminate a display screen. In a color display, each column of the laser array corresponds to a separate primary color. The separate rows of each array correspond to independently activated but simultaneously driven scan lines to be illuminated by the laser beam scanning apparatus. The plural laser beam arrays subdivide the width of the screen into smaller scan segments to increase the scanning angle or increase the horizontal scanning speed of the apparatus. Tilted facets illuminate different vertical sections of the screen with the laser beams as the reflector rotates. A scan format employing simultaneously illuminated diagonal scan tiles provides optimal use of the plural laser beam arrays.

  • Patent number: 6161999
Abstract: An improved fixed positionable toggle bolt device for fastening objects to a substrate comprising a metal anchor member having a nut portion and a selectively frangible positioning and holding assembly engaged with the metal member. The assembly comprises two elongated control legs, with the first ends of the control legs being pivotally attached to the metal member. The second ends of the control legs are movably attached to each other by an elongated undercut element interference, with movement of one leg relative to the other, effected by finger tip sliding, causing the metal anchor member to pivot from substantially in line with an insertion aperture in the substrate, to a position parallel to the substrate when the second ends of the control legs are aligned with each other. A positioning collar is engaged with both legs, holding them in place and is movable along the respective lengths of the legs.

  • Patent number: 6160423
Abstract: A system of the present invention uses small swing differential source synchronous voltage and timing reference (SSVTR and /SSVTR) signals to compare single-ended signals of the same slew rate generated at the same time from the same integrated circuit for high frequency signaling. The SSVTR and /SSVTR signals toggle every time the valid signals are driven by the transmitting integrated circuit. Each signal receiver includes two comparators, one for comparing the signal against SSVTR and the other for comparing the signal against /SSVTR. A present signal binary value determines which comparator is coupled to the receiver output, optionally by using exclusive-OR logic with SSVTR and /SSVTR. The coupled comparator in the receiver detects whether change in signal binary value occurred or not until SSVTR and /SSVTR have changed their binary value. The same comparator is coupled if the signal transitions. The comparator is de-coupled if no transition occurs.

  • Patent number: 6151606
Abstract: A system includes a communications module for downloading workspace data from a remote site, an application program interface coupled to the communications module for communicating with a workspace data manager to enable manipulation of the downloaded workspace data and thereby create manipulated data, and a general synchronization module coupled to the communications module for synchronizing the manipulated data with the workspace data stored at the remote site. An instantiator requests the workspace data manager to provide an interface for enabling manipulation of the downloaded workspace data. The workspace data manager may create another instance of the interface or may provide access to its only interface to enable manipulation of the data. A data reader may translate the downloaded workspace data from the format used by the remote site to the format used by the workspace data manager. Upon logout, a de-instantiator synchronizes the data with the global server and deletes the workspace data.

  • Patent number: 6143633
Abstract: A dendritic web formation process and apparatus for diffusing dopant impurities into a growing dendritic crystal web to produce photovoltaic cells. A solid dopant diffusion source is arranged in a holder mounted in a vertical thermal element either within the melt furnace or outside the furnace adjacent the furnace exit port. The solid diffusion source is heated by thermal conduction from the vertical thermal element and source holder using the furnace heat as a source. Auxiliary heater coils are optionally provided around the vertical thermal element to control the temperature of the solid diffusion source. The source and holder can also be mounted outside the furnace adjacent the exit port and heated using a secondary rapid temperature external heater. The growing dendritic crystal web is exposed to the dopant impurities as part of the web growing process, eliminating the need for a separate diffusion gaseous station and processing.

  • Patent number: 6140566
Abstract: Musical tones are produced according to song data basically by three steps. The first step converts the song data sequentially into control parameters. The control parameters are written into a parameter memory. Then, the second step generates waveform data by using the control parameters written in the parameter memory. The generated waveform data are written into a waveform memory, while the used control parameters are erased from the parameter memory to provide a vacant area. Lastly, the third step reads the waveform data sequentially from the waveform memory to produce the musical tones. Characterizingly, the second step of generating waveform data is executed dependently on progression of the third step of reading the waveform data. Further, the first step of converting the song data is executed independently from progression of the second step of generating waveform data as long as the parameter memory has the vacant area sufficient to store the control parameters converted from the song data.

  • Patent number: 6135650
Abstract: Program routines normally requiring windowed register allocation using conventional assembly code generation in a compiler are examined for eligibility for a wrapper routine optimization procedure in which wrapper routine assembly code instructions are generated in response to the application of high level programming language instructions specifying routines. If not eligible, the compiler generates assembly code instructions in a conventional way, allocating windowed registers to each routine. If the routine is eligible for wrapper routine optimization, the routine is further examined to determine whether the routine includes tail routine calls only or calls within the body of the routine. If the former, the routine is examined to determine whether local stack usage is required. For a routine having tail routine calls only and a requirement of local stack usage, wrapper routine assembly code instructions of a first type are generated.

  • Patent number: 6134804
Abstract: The present invention relates to the dryer section of a paper machine consisting of a number dryer groups having dryer cylinders and one reversal role between each two dryers within a dryer group. The dryer section may have top felted or bottom felted dryer groups. A differential pressure box may be placed between the dryer cylinders and above the reversal roles in a top-felted dryer group and between the dryer cylinders and below reversal roles in a bottom felted dryer group. Between dryer groups the transfer between top felted dryer groups can occur with either an open or closed draw. The transfer between a top felted dryer group and a bottom felted dryer group occurs with an open draw. The size of the draw can be adjustable by making one or both of the guide rolls at the transfer moveable.

  • Patent number: 6127617
Abstract: A music apparatus is constructed for producing a music sound while applying thereto a desired sound field effect according to a control parameter. In the music apparatus, a source device provides an input music sound composed of at least two sound components separable from each other. A multiplier device multiplies levels of the two sound components by different multiplication factors for undergoing a level change of the two sound components separately from each other. An adder device adds the two sound components with each other after the level change to produce an output music sound. An effector device applies the sound field effect to the output music sound according to the control parameter which characterizes the sound field effect. A controller device adjusts the respective multiplication factors according to the control parameter so that the levels of the two sound components can be regulated provisionally in matching with the sound field effect.
