  • Patent number: 6806531
Abstract: A non-volatile memory cell has a single crystalline semiconductive material, such as single crystalline silicon, of a first conductivity type. A first and a second region each of a second conductivity type, different from the first conductivity type, spaced apart from one another is formed in the semiconductive material. A channel region, having a first portion, and a second portion, connects the first and second regions for the conduction of charges. A dielectric is on the channel region. A floating gate, which can be conductive or non-conductive, is on the dielectric, spaced apart from the first portion of the channel region. The first portion of the channel region is adjacent to the first region, with the first floating gate having generally a triangular shape. The floating gate is formed in a cavity. A gate electrode is capacitively coupled to the first floating gate, and is spaced apart from the second portion of the channel region.

  • Patent number: 6807610
Abstract: An integrated multilevel nonvolatile flash memory device has a memory array of a plurality of memory units arranged in a plurality of rows and columns. Each of the memory units has a plurality of memory cells with each memory cell for storing a multibit state. Each of the memory units stores encoded user data and overhead data. The partitioning of the encoded user data and the overhead data stored in a single memory unit may be done virtually. The result is a compact memory unit without the need for an index to overhead data for its associated user data.

  • Patent number: 6803603
Abstract: Part of light emitted downward by an active layer is reflected by an electrode functioning as a reflective layer, and travels upward to radiate outside. Since the electrode is made of a metal, it reflects almost all light regardless of its incident angle, and light can be efficiently extracted.

  • Patent number: 6804348
Abstract: A hybrid circuit models a plurality of attributes of a communication system including a subscriber line coupled to a line interface circuit. The plurality of attributes includes subscriber line impedance, and impedance of a coupling transformer. The attributes are based on other factors, such as whether or not bridge taps exist at or near the line interface circuit on the subscriber line. The plurality of attributes are modeled by a specific arrangement of resistive and capacitive elements to substantially duplicate the collective transforming effects of the attributes on a transmission signal being sent out on the subscriber line. The transmission signal is transformed and provided to an output, where it is subtracted from a composite signal representing a combination of the actual transformed transmission signal and a receive signal. The subtraction yields an isolated receive signal, which is later processed to recover the full receive signal.

  • Patent number: 6804428
Abstract: This invention provides a method and apparatus for spectral power monitoring by use of a polarization diversity scheme. In the present invention, a multi-wavelength optical signal is first decomposed into first and second polarization components, and the second polarization component is subsequently rotated by 90-degrees, prior to impinging onto a diffraction grating that provides a higher diffraction efficiency for the first polarization component. The diffraction grating separates the first and second polarization components by wavelength respectively into first and second sets of optical beams, impinging onto an array of optical power sensors. The inventive optical spectral power monitoring apparatus thus is able to minimize the insertion loss, while providing enhanced spectral resolution.

  • Patent number: 6796957
Abstract: The invention provides systems containing a sterile container for aspiration, filtering, treating and reinjection into a subject of a bodily fluid in a sterile environment. The systems are particularly designed to facilitate transfection of cells within the sterile container by gene therapy molecules and reinjection of the transfected cells into the donor at controlled depth in precisely controlled volumes such as is useful for revascularization of ischemic cardiac tissue. For injection, a pressure actuator, preferably hand-held, applies force to liquids held within the sterile container in precisely controlled increments, thereby expressing liquids through a hollow needle or injection catheter in precisely controlled microvolumes. The invention systems include a hand-held injection device with audible cues that correspond to an operator-selected injection volume and/or audible cues that correspond to needle penetration depth selected by the operator.

  • Patent number: 6792319
Abstract: A home automation system and method for automatic control of controlled devices throughout a home. A unique architecture of occupancy sensors includes entry/exit sensors for detecting movement through doorways that separate rooms in the home, room motion sensors for detecting room occupancy, spot sensors to detect occupancy of specific locations within the rooms, and house status sensors to detect the status of certain parameters of the home. A central controller communicates with the sensors and controlled objects over a communications network, where the sensors and controlled objects can be added to the system in a ‘plug and play’ manner. The central controller controls the controlled objects in response to the entry/exit sensors, room motion sensors, spot sensors and the house status sensors. This control is accomplished by assigning each room to one of a plurality of room occupancy states, which dictate how the controlled objects are controlled by the central controller.

  • Patent number: 6792419
Abstract: A system and method for ranking hyperlinked documents, such as web pages, is provided wherein a stochastic backoff process is used to rank those hyperlinked documents. In more detail, the stochastic process is derived from a random walk through the pages of the web. First, a directed graph may be generated from a crawl wherein the nodes are documents in the crawl and a directed edge from one node A to another node B indicates the presence of a hyperlink from the corresponding document docA to document docB. Using a stochastic backoff process on this graph, a weight between 0 and 1 is assigned to each document so that the documents may be ranked according to the weights.

  • Patent number: 6790133
Abstract: A glide/burnish suspension assembly processes magnetic memory storage disks by “flying” a glide/burnish slider across the surface of a rotating disk. A glide/burnish suspension assembly as described herein includes mounting holes and a tooling hole that are compatible with existing Type-2/Type-4 glide/burnish testing fixtures. The glide/burnish suspension assembly includes a stainless steel loadbeam that is compatible with Type-8/Type-20 designs, i.e., the loadbeam is configured to provide the structural support and rigidity required for use with smaller glide/burnish sliders. In this respect, the loadbeam can accommodate 70%, 50%, 30%, and possibly smaller glide/burnish sliders. The glide/burnish suspension assembly facilitates the continued use of “older” Type-2/Type-4 fixtures to perform gliding and/or burnishing of disks using the “newer” Type-8/Type-20 loadbeams designed to support 30% sliders.

  • Patent number: 6792593
Abstract: In a pattern correction method, design layout data of a pattern designed by an automated layout unit is entered. An environmental profile is determined based on whether or not another graphics pattern exists at the surroundings of each correction target cell included in the entered design layout data. A target cell name is replaced with a prescribed cell name of correction pattern corresponding to the determined environmental profile by referencing a cell replacement table. An OPC correction pattern corresponding to the replaced cell name is imported from a cell library.
