  • Patent number: 8341030
Abstract: An aggregation of functionality related to a product within an electronic catalog hosted by a wholesaler web system is provided by presenting on a client computing device a webpage in which a single product is directly associated with a single access point. The single access point provides a means by which plural wholesaler web system functions related to the single product are made available to a consumer. A listing of the plural wholesaler web system functions related to the single product is displayed within the webpage in response to an activation of the single access point by the consumer. In response to a selection by the consumer from the displayed listing the wholesaler web system initiates a performance of the one of the plural wholesaler web system functions so selected.

  • Patent number: 8301768
Abstract: A data sharing and indexing system composed of multiple local indexing systems residing on network storage devices. Each (instantiation of the groupware) local storage device runs software for advanced content-based indexing, and each local indexing system forms a node in a peer-to-peer network. The indexing software performs topic-based categorization by means of a higher-order path analysis algorithm, which mimics human intuition by considering both high- and low-order links between data elements. The indexes generated by the software are automatically partitioned into topic indexes. The topical similarity of indexes to each other and to a pre-established set of topic indices is measured using a cross-training algorithm. The peer-to-peer network is implemented by a novel mesh-based, self-healing protocol, providing specialized means for sharing data and topic indexes. The software leverages the index sharing technology to provide content- and metadata-based searching features.

  • Patent number: 8281027
Abstract: A system and method for distributing media related to a location. The physical location of a media presentation device is received over a network. The physical location of a plurality of end users are identified, via the network, wherein each of plurality of users is associated with a user device capable of storing media files. At least one of the end users is identified who is located in such proximity to the media presentation device that the user can perceive media that presented on the media presentation device. At least one media file that is currently being presented on the media presentation device is identified and transmitted over the network to each of the identified end users.

  • Patent number: 8016098
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a belt-driven chute rotation system for a snowthrower having a chute and an engine. The chute rotation system includes a chute rotation mechanism rotating the chute around a first axis of rotation. The chute rotation system includes an actuation mechanism having a belt and at least one pulley. The belt moves substantially continuously when the engine is running. The at least one pulley moves from a first position adjacent to the belt to a second position engaging the belt. The at least one pulley is coupled to the chute rotation mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7564348
Abstract: A method to wirelessly monitor an entity having an attached transponder is disclosed. A geographical zone is defined. The geographical zone can be defined by allowing a user to define and load to a transponder a plurality of waypoints, each waypoint defined by a geographical coordinate and a radius originating from the geographical coordinate. The geographical zone can also be defined by selecting a plurality of coordinates that are loaded to a transponder and mapped on a pixilated image. The microprocessor in the attached transponder is programmed to determine the occurrence of an event associated with the status of the entity in relation to the geographical zone. The microprocessor in the transponder is also configured to transmit the data related to the occurrence of an event from the attached transponder to a user.

  • Patent number: 7539175
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for permitting a mobile terminal having multiple, heterogeneous network connections (e.g., multiple wired or wireless transceivers of various types) to set up and maintain virtual connections over multiple networks to either the same or to multiple destinations. The mobile terminal can “load-share” traffic, i.e., it can distribute segments of traffic over a full set of heterogeneous networks, significantly improving the reliability and availability of communications. In a first embodiment, a mobile terminal is configured with multiple radio frequency (RF) transceivers. Operating system software is provided for dynamically establishing and maintaining traffic flow for user applications over multiple communications paths, and for automatically adapting to variations in the networking environment, application traffic flow requirements, end user preferences, or mobility.

  • Patent number: 6991465
Abstract: A system of facilitating childhood learning uses a select group of familiar domestic articles which are rendered or portrayed or developed as characters in a story. The devices are fastening devices for use on clothes or different apparel articles, selectively including a zipper, a snap, a button, a buckle and a string or a lace. Features of the human being, for instance at least one of eyes, ears, a nose, a mouth, arms or legs are added to the devices. The story is related in a selected media, which can be a book, television or radio rendition, movie, video or cards.

  • Patent number: 6762586
Abstract: A remote controlled toy vehicle with a rechargable battery operates with rechargeable system. A station has an outlet on or in adjacency with a surface on which the remotely controllable toy is movable, and electrical outlet contacts. The remote controlled toy has inlet contacts for electrically engaging the outlet contacts when steered to the station. When the toy is steered under remote control to the station and the outlet contacts and inlet contacts electrically engage, a rechargeable current is passible from the electrical outlet contacts to the electrical inlet contacts. The station is part of a bypass track and the toy vehicle is normally directed to travel on the track and bypass the station.

  • Patent number: 6644615
Abstract: A stabilized jack stand for a vehicle comprises a vertically directed leg for location on a foot, and an extendable portion for supporting a vehicle chassis, the leg defining a peripheral area relative to the foot plate. An engagement element releasably secures the foot to the leg, and the foot extends to an area beyond the periphery area of the leg. The leg a side profile extends from a wider portion adjacent to the foot to a narrower portion towards the extendable portion of the jack stand, and the leg has a cross-sectional profile including at least two inter-engaging walls and the engagement element being for interfacing with the two walls.

  • Patent number: 6585832
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method for the manufacture of aircraft engine cylinder barrels to prevent their premature failure due to hairline cracks or specks thought to be caused by caustic stress corrosion cracking during black oxide treatment. Machined aircraft cylinder barrels immersed into a black oxide chemical bath composed of a solution containing about 60% sodium hydroxide, about 0% sodium nitrate, and about 40% sodium nitrite most effectively prevents specks and hairline cracks. Since residual stresses from machining also contribute to the probability that specks or hairline cracks will occur during black oxide treatment, the maximum selected number of cylinder barrels essentially free of detectible specks or hairline cracks determines the maximum number of cylinder barrels to be machined on a given set of tool bits.

  • Patent number: 6369203
Abstract: Peptides are proposed with antigenic or immunogenic determinants, which result from autoantibodies in the body fluids of patients, who are suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In the case of the peptides it is preferably a question of the C terminus of H1 with the sequence section 187-211 and the N termini of H2B with the sequence sections 1-35 and 36-76, which are capable of cross reactions with the autoantibodies (anti-histone-antibodies). The invention furthermore provides ways of forming monoclonal antibodies and antiidiotypical antibodies, which are directed against autoantibodies. The diagnosis of SLE is possible in accordance with the invention with a high degree of certainty and the monoclonal antibodies directed against the autoantibodies are suitable for the production of medicaments for the therapy of SLE.
