  • Patent number: 7218267
Abstract: Method and system to identify, verify and remediate subterranean anomalies. Infrared (IR) thermographic scanning [10] of a selected surface area obtains image area data [12, 14] inferring such an anomaly. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is used [22] at predetermined surface locations penetrates subterraneously to a depth including the anomaly, creating vertical dimension radar data [120] showing anomaly depth. Surface image IR data is correlated with GPR data to verify the anomaly and its vertical dimension and finds [124] a central location in the anomaly. Anomaly volume is predetermined from the area data and vertical-dimension data. Grout injected [26, 124] into the central location at first pressure secures the anomaly by surrounding the central location. After verifying centrally securement, more grout is injected [32, 126] into the anomaly region at second pressure at least as great as the first pressure until the total grout injected approximates the predetermined anomaly volume.

  • Patent number: 7218756
Abstract: Video segmentation wherein scene images of subjects and background are captured by video and are automatically segmented according to subject content, as by system determination of the nature of subjects, but segmentation of the subjects can be compromised by visual noise. Segmentation transformations of an original background and foreground images in the scenes are provided as a terrain map, and the segmentation may also incorporate noise blobs. Automatic segmentation threshold adaptation is based on measuring the segmentation noise while holding the number count of noise blobs constant, whereby to achieve noise-adaptive segmentation gain. Automatic threshold adaptation within multiple areas of the scene results in different possible thresholds in different areas based on the amount of segmentation noise in each area. Segmentation is improved accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7214204
Abstract: A multi-layer vibrating massager having a visual communication means for viewing an indicia disposed therein that does not interfere with the massaging function of the massager during operation is disclosed. The vibrating massager comprises a vibratory component encased by an transparent outer casing engaged to an end cap that permits the user to view the indicia through the outer casing. The indicia may be affixed to the vibratory component, disposed between the vibratory component and the outer casing, or affixed to the interior surface of the outer casing. In the preferred embodiment, the transparent outer casing is removable to enable the user to easily access and modify the indicia.

  • Patent number: 7210580
Abstract: A container for storing and dispensing consumer products comprises a multi-compartment moulded tray (1) formed with an array of discrete cavities (6) for receiving consumer products. A cover film (20) is secured by adhesive to the generally planar top surface (5) of the tray (1) to retain the one or more items within the cavities (6). The cover film has pre-formed tear lines (23) defining the peripheries of an array of tear-off portions (22), each tear-off portion being arranged so that in use it overlies an associated one of the cavities to retain the one or more items in that cavity until it is removed. Each tear-off portion (22) has an associated lug portion (24) not secured to the tray in use, for gripping by a user preparatory to removing the said tear-off portion (22).

  • Patent number: 7132702
Abstract: In the present invention, a charge transfer unit is arranged on a first-plane side of a thinly-formed semiconductor base. Charge accumulating units are arranged on a second-plane side, the opposite side. A depletion prevention layer is arranged closer to the second-plane side than the charge accumulating units. The depletion prevention layer prevents a depletion region around the charge accumulating units from reaching the second plane of the semiconductor base. The depletion prevention layer can suppress surface dark current going into the charge accumulating units. Meanwhile, an energy ray incident from the second-plane side pass through the depletion prevention layer to generate signal charges in the charge accumulating units (depletion regions). The charge accumulating units collect, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, the signal charges which are to be transported to the charge transfer unit under voltage control or the like, and then are read to exterior as image signals.

  • Patent number: 7121934
Abstract: Disclosed is a carrier head of a chemical mechanical polishing apparatus for planarizing a semiconductor wafer. An adjustment chamber is provided in a space section formed between a membrane lower holder and a membrane upper holder of a wafer support assembly. Pressure applied to the adjustment chamber is transferred to a rear surface of a membrane during a polishing process through a perforated hole formed at a center of the membrane lower holder. A center portion of the membrane is connected to a vacuum pipe by passing through a hole of the membrane lower holder and the adjustment chamber. Vacuum pressure is directly applied to a wafer so that the wafer is easily attached to the carrier head at lower pressure. Pressure is evenly distributed over the whole area of the wafer so that the wafer is evenly polished.

  • Patent number: 6992726
Abstract: A method for encoding a carrier signal in a video signal, the video signal having one or more frames, the frames each having a first field and a second field, the first field and the second field of each frame having a plurality of scan lines, each having a plurality of pixels with an intensity value indicating brightness, the method comprising selectively designating the plurality of scan lines of the first field of the one or more frames as up lines or down lines, calculating an optimum amount of adjustment to the pixels of the up lines and the down lines, and selectively increasing the intensity value of pixels of the up lines and decreasing the intensity value of pixels of the down lines by the optimum amount of adjustment thereby modulating the video signal with a carrier signal and creating a modulated video signal.

  • Patent number: 6976557
Abstract: A toeboard for a raised working platform advantageously cooperates with known construction systems to simplify securement and allow efficient setup. Each toeboard has connectors at either end of an elongate body member. Each connector has two fingers extending in a manner to intersect with a longitudinal axis of the elongate member. The connectors at opposite ends of the elongate body have an opposite orientation of said fingers where the fingers of one connector are 180 degrees out of alignment with the fingers of the other connector. This arrangement allows toeboards to connect easily in an end to end manner as well as in a perpendicular manner.
