Abstract: A method of administering liquid medicine such as epinephrine to a patient includes administering a first dose followed by administering an optional second dose is described herein. Also described herein are devices useful for carrying out the methods described and kits containing these devices.
Abstract: File flagging apparatuses for hanging and traditional files are shown. The devices have a flag assembly that may be moved between extended and retracted positions. The flagging assemblies may also have a file label holder integrated thereinto. A locking mechanism may be included to keep the flag in position relative to the supporting base or label.
Abstract: Methods for purchasing of goods or services over the internet. A customer has a customer account set up at a bank with associated account information. The account information includes verification information for verification parameters, such as authorized computer identification, authorized delivery addresses, authorized user identification, authorized telephone caller identification, and/or other account information. An order is placed by a user via an ordering computer which provides order information. Such order information includes verification variables used by the bank. Verification and/or authentication using one or more variables of the customer account information is used by the bank to validate the order before assuring payment to the merchant.

Abstract: Hardened cutter elements commonly called cutters used in saw chains to act as cutter links. The hardened cutters have hard insets applied and connected to the cutting face of the cutter. The insets are made of a hard, tough material, such as a suitable carbide. Also shown are saw chains having the hardened cutter links with the hard insets. The preferred insets include a rear portion having a semi-cylindrical attachment surface. The attachment surface is configured for attachment to a filed or ground cutting face of a conventional saw chain cutter. A front portion of the inset has a cutting face which is provided with beveled cutting face corners and preferably chamfered edges extending rearwardly from the inset cutting face. Methods of producing the cutters with insets and for producing saw chains with the hardened cutters are also described.
Abstract: Apparatus for providing optical radiation, which apparatus comprises an optical fibre (5) having a core (3), a first cladding (1) and a second cladding (2), in which the first cladding (1) has a substantially constant diameter (9) in its cross-section. The first cladding (1) can be non-circular. Advantages include more reliable cleaving, joining and splicing.
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides for a method of placing a concrete structure in a generally horizontal position. The method includes building the concrete structure in an essentially vertical position, the concrete structure being defined by a first end. The concrete structure is pivotably supported at a support location proximate the first end while the concrete structure is in the essentially vertical position. The concrete structure is then pivoted about the support location to move the concrete structure from the essentially vertical position to the generally horizontal position.
Abstract: A system and method is directed to managing media access in a controlled media system. The method includes communicating usage reports that are based on usage information from local usage records associated with one or more user devices controlled by each local control unit to a system control unit from one or more local control units, update global usage records that associate device usage with one or more user accounts based on the usage reports, transmitting the updated global usage records to each local control unit, and updating the local usage records responsive to receipt of the updated global usage records and causing each local control unit to selectively enable and disable each user device based on the updated local usage records, and, when updated global usage records are not received causing each local control unit to selectively enable and disable each user device based on local usage records.
Abstract: A radiation garment holder for mounting on a wall or other suitable surface. The holder has a central section with first and second clearance sections, first and second arms, and first and second shoulder support regions. The cantilevered clearance sections prevent radiation protection garments from contacting a support surface. The non-contact design reduces disease transmission between the radiation garment and a support surface, and reduces mechanical damage to the garment. The convex shoulder supports help extend the useful life of a radiation garment. The holder is nonporous and may readily be disinfected without degrading the material. The nonporous holder reduces the absorption of infectious agents, reduces the ability of the holder to support the growth of microorganisms or other antigenic materials, and reduces the risk of transferring unhealthful agents.
Abstract: Apparatuses forming portable identification cards and associated methods are described. A preferred apparatus includes an input device adapted for a consumer to enter authentication data, a memory for storing reference data, a processor configured to compare the authentication data entered by the consumer to the reference data stored in the memory to determine whether the authentication data entered by the consumer is valid authentication data, an indicator for informing a merchant when the processor has determined that the consumer has entered valid authentication data, and a power source adapted to supply power to the processor and the indicator. Other features are also disclosed.
Abstract: Systems and methods for playing live casino-type card games, in particular blackjack. The systems include a presentation unit which has video displays which portray virtual playing cards and other information at gaming tables attended by live participants. Shuffling, cutting, dealing and return of playing cards are accomplished using data processing functions within an electronic game processor or processors which enable these functions to be performed quickly and without manual manipulation of playing cards. The invention allows casinos to speed play and reduce the risk of cheating while maintaining the attractive ambiance of a live table game. The processor can also associate one or more slot symbols with the virtual playing cards so that jackpots can be awarded on the basis of winning slot symbols or combinations of symbols.

Abstract: Apparatus forming a portable charge, debit or similar identification card which can be read using a magnetic card reader and methods for securing information are described. The preferred apparatus includes a magnetic stripe for storing information, a jamming assembly configured to emit a jamming signal which temporarily renders at least a portion of the magnetic stripe unreadable when the card is swiped through the card reader without first entering correct authentication data, and a power source adapted to supply power to the jamming assembly. Other features are also disclosed.
