  • Patent number: 4714238
Abstract: An apparatus for unseating wire rope wedges is accomplished by means of a linear motor such as a hydraulic jack mechanism. The hydraulic jack includes a housing structure adapted to be seated about a portion of a wire line connector device in such manner that a force transmitting retained relationship is established between the housing and the wire rope connector. A linear actuator within the housing is energized against the small end of a wire rope wedge and accomplishes movement of the wedge to its unseated position to release wire rope secured thereby.

  • Patent number: 4709719
Abstract: Apparatus for launching and retrieving cup pigs in pipelines. A vertically oriented pig launching barrel is isolated from pipeline pressure, blown down to atmospheric pressure and then loaded with a number of cup pigs. After the pig launching barrel has been sealed and equalized with line pressure it is placed in pig launching communication with the pipeline. Holding and launching rams are then actuated automatically in accordance with a timed sequence or selectively under manual control to cause sequential or selective gravity and flow induced launching of cup pigs into the pipeline. Following passage through the pipeline the cup pigs are separated from the flowing fluid by a pig receiving barrel which is also capable of containing a number of cup pigs.

  • Patent number: 4707355
Abstract: A method of manufacturing and the product formed thereby are set forth; the product relates to an encapsulated insecticidal bait which in the preferred and illustrated embodiment has a surrounding shell about a core. The core is formed of a volatile fumigant or ingested toxicant mixed with an insect species attractant food such as soybean oil. The core is enclosed in a shell formed by a two part polycondensate system forming the shell about the core. A first part and a liquid define an interfacial contact around a bead of the first part wherein beads of the core material form droplets in the water. The polycondensate system is defined by the two-part intermediates, where the second part is added to the liquid ratably to encapsulate the droplets.

  • Patent number: 4706915
Abstract: A display stand for supporting either a rigid or non-rigid doll or other inanimate human-shaped figure. A flat base and vertical post balance the figure in an upright position. The vertical post telescopes to adjust for the height of the figure. A bracket and a belt extend from the post and provide further support for the figure. The bracket fits under and against the figure's pelvis, providing upward support, and may be moved along the vertical post to adjust for the length of the figure's legs. The belt fits around the figure's torso. Both the bracket and the belt are sufficiently flexible so as to adjust for the figure's circumference and to not mar its surface or weaken its structure. A variation of the display stand permits the figure to be held in a range of positions varying from vertical to horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4704807
Abstract: A trailer for storing and/or drying harvested crops, such as peanuts, which trailer is economical to build yet will store a large volume of harvested crops and will prevent mold by natural air flow therethrough. The trailer has a front truck axle with a frame for a deep narrow box being mounted thereon. The frame is enclosed on the sides with cattle panel wire and hardware cloth attached to the frame. A perforated, galvanized, corrugated tin forms a floor of the deep narrow box. An inner cage provides extra air space for drying. A gate is provided at the lower rear of the deep narrow box and a hitch at the lower front. Welded angle iron forms the frame along with diagonal braces and cross rods. Ladder steps are formed by steps attached to the angle iron.

  • Patent number: 4702327
Abstract: In the preferred and illustrated embodiment of the core sample bullet construction, a multi-piece construction is set forth. There is a forward, or removable, nose portion. It nests with and connects to a carrier portion. The two portions together define an elongate central bore formed in multiple portions, and the bore is open through the rear of the carrier. At the rear, a separate and removable bottom cap is plugged into the carrier portion and the two are joined together at the time of assembly, before firing. A release ring is included on the outer face of the nose portion and protects the shoulder of the carrier portion, engaging the formation upon entry, and is sacrifically abandoned; the ring is a mechanism for releasing the nose portion whereby retraction is easily obtained; the release ring includes drilling mud and debris relieving notches formed in the inside diameter.

  • Patent number: 4701705
Abstract: In the preferred and illustrated embodiments hereof, a method and apparatus for conducting NMR moisture measurements is set forth. In various forms, hydrogen transient NMR signal peak amplitude values indicative of total hydrogen concentration of the tested material space. The hydrogen concentration is converted by a constant into water concentration. In one embodiment, a comparison is made between the NMR peak voltage of the unknown material and the NMR peak voltage from a standard sample having a specified water content to obtain a calibration for determining moisture content as a weight percentage in the tested specimen. If the densities of the two samples vary, the weights of each are necessary for accurate measurements. An alternative procedure involves determining moisture and material from the hydrogen in the water and in the material itself. In this procedure, the spin-spin relaxation T.sub.2 for the moisture is preferably more than three times longer than the T.sub.

  • Patent number: 4697642
Abstract: In a gravity stabilized thermal miscible displacement process for recovery of normally immobile high viscosity hydrocarbons in a subterranean formation, a steam and solvent vapor mixture is injected into the top of the formation, thereby establishing a vapor zone across the top of the formation. The steam and vapor mixture is lean or undersaturated in solvent vapors. The steam vapors condense to give up heat and raise the temperature of the underlying viscous hydrocarbons, thus reducing the viscosity thereof. The solvent vapors condense and go into solution with the viscous hydrocarbons, further reducing the viscosity thereof enabling the hydrocarbons to drain under the force of gravity into an adjacent production well completed at the bottom of the reservoir and where the hydrocarbons are recovered. The pressure at the producing well is controlled so that the pressure differential through the formation is approximately equal to the gravity head of the liquids in the formation.
