  • Patent number: 6836036
Abstract: A stator ring for an electric motor, the stator ring comprising plural stator ring sections being molded of insulated ferromagnetic powder. The stator ring sections each have an arcuate shoe having a plurality of teeth projecting radially therefrom. The teeth are adapted for receiving coil windings. The stator ring sections are adapted for being retained end to end by a stator core to form a complete stator ring. The arcuate shoes of the stator ring sections create expansion gaps between opposite ends thereof when the stator core and the stator ring sections are subjected to heat expansion, to prevent damage of the stator ring due to the heat expansion. The stator core is also constituted with improved heat dissipation and adapted to mount an electronic circuit board with some of its components in direct heat conductivity with the core. Heat is dissipated by radiation, convection and ventilation.

  • Patent number: 6835034
Abstract: A method and a system including a catcher tire abutment device is described for restraining road vehicles transported on a support surface of a transport vehicle. Primary wheel restraining devices are secured to the support surface on outward sides of pairs of wheels of each road vehicle adjacent the thread surface of the wheels. A catcher tire abutment device is also secured to the support surface an approximate predetermined distance spaced adjacent the thread face on inward sides of front and rear pairs of wheels of the vehicle. When the road vehicles are subjected to an impact force, from either a front or rear direction, kinetic energy from the impacted vehicle is absorbed and dissipated softly in a sequential manner by (a) contact of the tires of one of the front and rear pairs of wheels against an arresting surface of the primary wheel restraining devices and (b) by the tires of the other pair of wheels contacting the arresting surface of the catcher tire abutment devices.

  • Patent number: 6823577
Abstract: A machine and a method for fabricating structural wood components, such as joist building components, is described. The machine comprises a component assembling jig for assembling pre-cut wood pieces at predetermined positions corresponding to a structural wood component design. Magnetic elements are adapted to position connector plates at predetermined locations in the machine. The assembled wood pieces of the jig are displaced to a transfer platform where they are clamped with the wood pieces positioned at interconnecting junctions. The transfer platform then displaces the assembled and held wood pieces to a position adjacent magnetic connector plate applicators whereby the plates are secured to the wood pieces at the interconnecting junctions to interconnect the wood pieces together to form an assembled structural component which is then displaced and discharged from the machine.

  • Patent number: 6810621
Abstract: A friction brake for a louvered structure having a plurality of slats pivotally interconnected between opposed stiles of a rectangular frame is described. The friction brake is a flat arm having a pair of spaced apertures. One of the apertures is dimensioned to receive a cylindrical sleeve of a connector which is secured to a pivot rod of a slat and the other aperture is dimensioned for friction fit about the cylindrical sleeve connected to the pivot rod of an adjacent slat whereby to arrest the connector and all the slats. All of the slats are interconnected together by a longitudinal slat interconnecting member which is pivotally connected to all of the slat connectors whereby when any slat is positioned to a desired slat angle all of the other slats will move in unison to that desired angle and be retained thereat by the friction retention of the second aperture of the friction brake about the cylindrical sleeve of one of the slats. Two or more friction brakes can be mounted in a stile.

  • Patent number: 6652469
Abstract: Resilient attachment members interconnect a pair of flat plates of a movement detector pad and are preferably disposed in the corners of these flat plates. A piezoelectric transducer is disposed centrally between the plates to generate signals when the plates move with respect to one another. In one embodiment the resilient attachment members each have a connector pin which is connected to one of the plates and extends into a pin receiving hollow node formed in the other plates and projecting above an inner surface of the other plate. The end of the connector pin has lateral projections to engage within the node when both plates are spaced apart a predetermined distance by the pressure of helical springs which are disposed about each pin and its associated node. During movement of the pin within the node the pin is in substantially friction free movement whereby not to corrupt the movement signal generated by the piezoelectric crystal.
