  • Patent number: 5805389
Abstract: A magnetoresistive head comprising longitudinal bias layers composed of .alpha.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 provided under an magnetoresistive layer in close contact therewith, wherein an exchange anisotropic magnetic field is applied to the magnetoresistive layer from the longitudinal bias layers and the coercive force of the magnetoresistive layer is increased to several hundred Oe in exchange coupling regions with which the longitudinal bias layers are in close contact. The magnetization direction of the exchange coupling regions becomes stable in the x axis direction and sufficient longitudinal bias magnetic field is thereby applied to an region corresponding to the track width (Tw) of the magnetoresistive layer. Therefore, decreased Barkhausen noise and improved magnetic detection characteristics are achieved.

  • Patent number: 5790015
Abstract: A security apparatus which automatically locks a door even though a door locking operation is not performed. A security controller drives a door lock device to automatically lock a door if the door is not locked even when a lapse of time exceeds a set time and if a detection signal is not output from a radar sensor after the door has been unlocked. With this arrangement, even when a driver unlocks the door intending to get in the vehicle, but decides not to do so, and also when he/she leaves the vehicle without performing an arming operation, the door can be automatically locked.

  • Patent number: 5755938
Abstract: An apparatus which allows a first film to be formed on a substrate by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and a second film to be formed on the substrate by sputtering, wherein the processes are performed sequentially in the same deposition chamber without exposing the substrate to an oxidative atmosphere. The deposition chamber includes a first electrode and a second electrode located under the first electrode. A transfer mechanism loads a dummy target onto the first electrode and the substrate onto the second electrode prior to a CVD process. The dummy target is resistant to sputtering and thus does not contaminate the film deposited on the substrate during CVD. After CVD and prior to sputtering, the transfer mechanism unloads the dummy target and replaces it with a sputtering target for film formation by sputtering. Both the dummy target and sputtering target can be loaded and unloaded from a single pressurized storage chamber.
