Abstract: A can and bottle crusher and separator with stationary and oscillating tooth jaw plates confronting each other and converging with each other in a downward direction and dropping crushed glass and metal containers into the discharge chute. A glass discharging port in the bottom of the discharge chute directs glass particles directly into a collecting barrel. A gate is provided to alternately close the chute or to close the glass discharge port. The chute has a separating wheel at its bottom end to initially stop and then propel aluminum cans over the top of it. The wheel has magnetic belts to carry steel containers around with the wheel until they are stripped off and dropped into an appropriate barrel.
Abstract: Gasoline treating apparatus for an automotive engine including a modulating heat exchanger heating the gasoline from the supply tank before directing the gasoline into the carburetor and utilizing heat from the engine coolant, the temperature of the heated gasoline being sensed for regulating the flow of the engine coolant; and an additional heater for the gasoline in the air-fuel mixture and obtaining heat for the additional heating from the engine coolant.
Abstract: A manhole cover lifter comprising an elongate inclined lever with a handle at its upper end and a fastener at its lower end for attaching to the cover of a manhole; a depending strut intermediate the ends of the lever and a pair of wheels mounted at the lower end of the strut and on a transverse axis forming a fulcrum for the lifting lever; a lifter bar connecting the wheel axle with the forward end of the lifter bar, the lifting lever being of tubular steel and a stiffener bar in the tubular lever at the upper end of the depending strut; and a handle at the upper end of the lifting lever.
Abstract: A hitch for elongate implements such as a grain drill, the hitch including a draft frame with a dogleg shape, and a diagonal brace connected to the implement, a cable interconnecting the draft frame and diagonal brace and coordinating motion thereof, a spring-operated latch mechanism connecting and disconnecting the draft frame and diagonal brace, and a swingable connecting link at the forward end of the draft frame and a spring-operated latch mechanism maintaining the connecting link and draft frame in predetermined orientation.
Abstract: A process for extracting caffeine from raw coffee by circulating humid nitrogen oxide N.sub.2 O gas in a hypercritical condition under predetermined pressure and temperature conditions through the raw coffee. Optionally the caffeine is separated from the extractor gas by an ion exchanger such as a three-dimensional cross-linked polysaccharide.
Abstract: A control valve with a three part, all plastic housing having an access opening through which a slide extends for operating the plastic valve element toward and away from the valve seat, the plastic valve element having an integrally molded plastic diaphragm clamped between parts of the all plastic housing and traversing the entire access opening, the slide being operated by a rotor, there being ramp shaped surfaces on confronting faces of the rotor and slide, and an adjustment nut for locating the rotor, slide and valve element relative to the valve seat.
Abstract: A teleindicator for information boards is described. The main characteristic of the teleindicator consists in comprising first means for the registration of input signals relating to an indication which has to be presented by the said teleindicator, second means adapted to process the signals from the said first means and to control third means which actuate, in a mechanical way, the display of the said indication by means of indicator elements.
Abstract: A method of treatment of peanut seeds with a fungicide effective against seed-borne pathogens consisting in treating the seeds with a suspension including oil as a base and also including active chemicals in the form of finely ground particles carried by the oil in the suspension and allowing the seeds to dry with the result that a coating including active chemicals remains on the seeds to minimize chemical dust related environmental and physical problems. The seeds have a dried coating embracing and at least partially penetrating the testa of the seed and producing thorough contact with the entire periphery of the seed, the coating containing at least one fungicide effective against the seed-borne pathogens.
Abstract: A grain handling transfer and storing system including a plurality of bins in two rows in circular arcs about a center pad, each of the bins or receptacles having ground level discharging conveyors and open tops for filling, a pair of screw conveyors radially arranged from the center of the open space between the bins, with distal ends supported on wheeled carriages and proximal ends on a swiveling mounting carried by a tripod and a swiveling housing permitting swinging of the screw conveyors.
Abstract: An aggregate distributor on the rear of a truck dump box including an elongate housing extending transversely across the end of the truck and having a multiplicity of discharge ports through which the aggregate is dropped onto spinners swingably suspended from the distributor housing, a square tubular rotary shaft in the housing carrying conveying, mixing and agitating vanes which are rotationally adjustable on the shaft to cause aggregate to be propelled along the shaft in various directions, in accordance with the discharge ports that are open.
Abstract: The solar panel comprises a cavity having disposed therein a slab apt to be lapped by the air which has to be heated, the said cavity being provided with a perforation for the inlet and a perforation for the outlet of the said air into and from the said cavity, and is characterized in comprising a second and a third cavity, each of which communicates with the said first cavity, the said second and third cavities being arranged to form sections of channel for the inlet and the outlet of the air into and from the solar panel.
Abstract: A device for displaying sheet opaque pictures in which images of scenes thereon are transmitted from a housing onto an exterior display. A picture exchange magazine has a display window at the picture scene such that the top of a stack of pictures is confined at the window and the remainder are confined behind it. The magazine includes first and second frame members, the latter being relatively reciprocable parallel to the window and picture scence for cyclic exchange of the top picture in the magazine. A release holder retains the magazine on the housing while allowing the frame members to remain relatively movable to each other.

Abstract: A plate mounted between the carburetor and intake manifold having horizontally extending passageways and inlet and outlet ports communicating with four vertical apertures aligned with the passageways of the carburetor and intake manifold. Double-walled tubular heat exchangers, formed of spaced apart outer and inner jackets, are disposed in the vertical apertures, the spaces between the outer and inner jackets communicating with the plate passageways and being sealed from the inside of the inner jackets, such that engine coolant can be circulated through such spaces and through the plate to cause preheating of the fuel-air mixture as it passes through the inside of the exchangers and into the intake manifold. The inner periphery of each inner jacket has ring shaped serrations and a downward taper, which together with preheating by the heat exchangers results in significantly improved vaporization of the fuel-air mixture.
