Abstract: A method for extracting phosphoric acid from wet process phosphoric acid is disclosed. N,N-dialkyl-.alpha.-aminoacids are contacted with wet process phosphoric acid to extract substantially pure phosphoric acid therefrom. The N,N-dialkyl-.alpha.-aminoacids are dissolved in a diluent.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for beneficiating an apatitic phosphate ore containing an alkaline earth metal carbonate mineral impurity, which includes conditioning the phosphate ore in an aqueous conditioning slurry containing a cationic reagent at a concentration sufficient to reagentize the ore; and subjecting the reagentized ore to a froth flotation process wherein the apatite is recovered in the froth concentrate and the alkaline earth metal carbonate mineral impurity is rejected in the underflow tailing.
Abstract: The present invention relates to nitrate esters of galactomannan gums and methods of making them comprising reacting a galactomannan gum with a nitrating acid. Nitrate esters of galactomannan gums are useful as thickeners and gelling agents for certain organic solvents.
Abstract: A snow and ice control composition and a process for employing said composition to improve traction on ice and snow covered surfaces. The composition comprising a particulate calcined montmorillonite clay, ammonium nitrate, and water does not promote corrosion of metals and is not harmful to vegetation.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing dideoxyzearalane and related compounds which comprises reacting an appropriate hydroxy compound with an organic sulfonyl chloride to form a sulfonate ester derivative; recovering the sulfonate ester derivative; and catalytically hydrogenolyzing the sulfonate ester derivative to form the desired product.
Abstract: Novel zearalin ethers are disclosed, which are represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein Y may be a single bond or double bond; A may be --CH.sub.2 --, >C.dbd.O, or >CHOR.sub.1 ; R represents substituents on each of the aromatic rings in either the 2 or 4 positions and may be H or OR.sub.1 ; R.sub.1 may be lower alkyl, lower acyl, monocyclic aryl, or monocyclic aralkyl; R.sub.2 represents a substituent common to each of the aromatic rings at either of the 2 or 4 positions which are not substituted by R, and is represented by the formula --OR.sub.3 O--, wherein R.sub.3 is a straight chain or branched chain hydrocarbon; and each aromatic ring may be unsubstituted in the 3 and 5 positions or may be further substituted with one or more halo substituents. Also discosed are methods for making the above compounds, and animal feeds containing such compounds.
Abstract: Improved thickened aqueous slurry explosives of the type containing an inorganic oxidizing salt, a fuel, and water are disclosed, wherein the improvement includes the use of a colloidal hydrous metal oxide as a thickening agent.
