  • Patent number: 8335652
Abstract: A self-improving identification method classifies specimens based on class identifiers. The system stores specimen profiles in a database that is updated with additional specimen profiles and with follow-up data that corrects classification of specimens that were initially incorrectly classified. Algorithms use the updated database to discover new class identifiers, modify thresholds of known class identifiers, and drop unnecessary class identifiers to improve classification of specimens.

  • Patent number: 8233974
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of assessing tissue oedema, in particular lymphoedema, by measuring bioelectrical impedance at a single frequency. Comparison of a single frequency bioelectrical impedance measurement taken at an anatomical region affected by tissue oedema to that taken at an anatomical region unaffected by tissue oedema is a reliable indicator of the presence or possible presence of lymphoedema. The present invention further provides an apparatus for determining the presence of tissue oedema.

  • Patent number: 8209940
Abstract: A waste sealing apparatus includes a supply mechanism of opposed sealing sheets, a pressure bonding mechanism therefor, a throw-in checking sensor provided on an insertion side of the pressure bonding mechanism, a cutting mechanism for the opposed sealing sheets, a passage checking sensor provided on a discharge side of the pressure bonding mechanism, and a catch-in preventing sensor provided on the discharge side of the pressure bonding mechanism. The pressure bonding mechanism has opposed bonding rolls each having seal parts on its both ends and a elastic compression part therebetween. Detecting a waste by the throw-in checking sensor automatically activates the supply mechanism of opposed sealing sheets. With the pressure bonding mechanism, the bonding rolls to bond opposed sealing sheets to seal the waste. When the passage checking sensor detects the waste from the bonding mechanism, the cutting mechanism automatically cut the sealing sheets.

  • Patent number: 8173751
Abstract: The invention provides novel defoamers which are useful as defoamers for top coat paints for motor vehicles. When the defoamers are incorporated with paints which do not use melamine resins as the curing agent, they can impart defoaming property to the paints without inviting turbidity in the painted films caused by infiltration of water. Hence the defoamers are particularly useful when used for baking finish type clear top coat paints for motor vehicles. The defoamer is characterized by comprising a copolymer of 2-50% by weight of (A) a polymerizable monomer capable of forming a copolymer having isocyanate groups which can react with a binder resin in thermosetting type paint or (b) a polymerizable monomer capable of forming a copolymer having the groups which produce isocyanate groups reactable with a binder resin in thermosetting type paint during the baking step of the same paint, and 98-50% by weight of (C) a monomer or polymer conventionally used for defoamers.
