  • Patent number: 4750568
Abstract: A hand-held pneumatic rescue tool may be driven from a bottled compressed gas. The driving gas is used only for the blow-striking stroke, while a compression spring is used to provide a force for the return stroke that is independent of the pressure of the driving gas. Thus, the pressure of the driving gas may be varied to adjust the impact force of the blows struck, without adversely affecting operation of the tool. By appropriate valving, the tool will operate continuously and automatically so long as driving gas is supplied, as determined by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4731576
Abstract: An alternating current watt transducer including an integrated circuit analog multiplier, providing four quadrant multiplication, to the input terminals of which are applied alternating current signals proportional to the voltage and current determinative of the watts to be measured. The integrated circuit analog multiplier provides an alternating current output signal which being proportional to the product of the in-phase components of the input signals, is proportional to the watts being measured. The alternating current signal which is proportional to watts is transformed to a constant-current direct current output.

  • Patent number: 4703300
Abstract: A composite time lag fuse having an insulating housing enclosing a time delay fuse and an electrical resistance heater which is located in intimate heat transfer relationship with the time delay fuse. The time delay fuse and electrical resistance heater being connected in a series circuit between a pair of conductive end caps closing the ends of the insulating housing. An overload current flow in the electrical resistance heater resulting in the generation and transfer of heat from the electrical resistance heater to the time delay fuse to cause the time delay fuse to interrupt after a predetermined time delay, an overload current flow in the circuit to be interrupted, which is of a lesser magnitude than would otherwise be interrupted by the time delay fuse. For improved short circuit performance, a short circuit fuse is also enclosed in the insulating housing and is connected in the series circuit.

  • Patent number: 4627007
Abstract: An automatic system for processing poultry carcasses such as turkeys and the like which vary in size and shape as they are being conveyed on a conveyor is disclosed. The weight of the carcass is determined by a weighting system and the relative position of a preselected portion of the anatomy of the carcass such as the anterior or posterior edges of the breast is ascertained by a photosensor as the carcasses are being conveyed. A data processing computer receives the weight and position data for each carcass and causes a tool such as a needle to inject a basting additive to move to a position where the tool can perform the desired task, i.e., insertion of the needle at the preselected position on the carcass. A measured amount of the basting additive is automatically injected depending upon the measured weight of each of the carcasses. The carcasses are removed from the conveyor at discharge points depending on the weight and rated quality of the carcass.

  • Patent number: 4621189
Abstract: A hand held data entry apparatus wherein a main body portion is formed to be held in one hand while data is entered through a keyboard by the fingers of the other hand. An optical scanning head is mechanically and electrically connected to the main body portion through an arrangement which permits the optical scanning head to be connected to the main body portion in more than one relative position. The scanning head sensor is pointed in a direction such that when the device is held in one hand the other hand may be utilized for entering data through the keyboard and at the same time the scanning head is directed toward the surface to be scanned, without need to reposition the main body portion.

  • Patent number: 4605229
Abstract: A mechanical toy dragstrip having a base, and a starting tower disposed on the base. As in drag racing, two parallel car tracks and two car loading or starting positions are provided. The starting tower is used to signal the beginning of the race by displaying, in sequence, red, yellow and green marbles which simulate the lights of a dragstrip "Christmas tree". The marbles roll down a path in the tower and are displayed in apertures to simulate lights. As the green marble is displayed, a set of starting flags raise automatically, and toy vehicles may be launched from sets of trigger assemblies. The toy is arranged such that the cars may be released manually upon perception of the green "go" marble or such that one of the cars is released automatically after display of the green "go" marble upon raising of the starting flags to race against the other car which is released manually.

  • Patent number: 4598331
Abstract: A ground fault current interrupter circuit is provided in which open neutral and open ground conditions create actuation of the interrupter circuit, as well as a ground fault. This is achieved by utilizing a supplemental secondary winding on the differential transformer of a common type of ground fault interrupter circuit. An open neutral lead or an open ground lead produces a current flow through the supplemental secondary winding that induces a trip signal in the secondary winding to initiate opening of the power line. In a second embodiment the supplemental secondary winding induces a trip signal in the transformer only for an open ground lead, while tripping for an open neutral is achieved by directly gating an SCR switch. The circuit arrangements also protect against other conditions, such as a potential in excess of a predetermined voltage between the neutral and ground leads or a reversal of the input connections.

  • Patent number: 4567456
Abstract: A resettable contact closing device opens a load circuit connected to a power line protected by a ground fault interrupter circuit, if the neutral conductor is broken. The contacts are closed by a mechanical reset actuator only if a solenoid is energized by a potential proportional to the line-to-neutral voltage to hold the actuator in a contact closing position. If the neutral conductor is broken, the solenoid will not be energized and the contacts, and hence the power line to the load circuit, will be opened.

  • Patent number: 4551024
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing a cementitious material, such as those quick-setting cementitious materials utilizing a volatile liquid, has a solid frame as the top of a mixing chamber. An inlet end of the solid frame is pivotably mounted on a vehicle. An auger or mixing screw is mounted in the frame, the auger being removable from the frame due to the mounting of one bearing in a removable plate member and the provision of a releasable flexible coupling between this end of the auger shaft and the drive motor. A low pressure gas may be inserted into the housing of the other bearing to prevent seepage of liquid or fumes into that bearing. A removable elastomeric trough forms the bottom of the mixing chamber and contains a discharge opening. A substantially dry material is inserted into the mixing chamber through an inlet hopper and a liquid injection arrangement introduces a liquid into the mixing chamber.
