Abstract: A latchable tie including a flexible strap with an elongated section having spaced apart first teeth, a head end, a tail end, an upper surface and a lower surface; a head defining an outer end portion, an inner end portion joined to the strap, an outer opening in the outer end portion, an inner opening in the inner end portion, a channel extending between the outer opening and the inner opening and adapted to receive the tail end of the strap, a latch mechanism disposed in the channel and defining upwardly projecting longitudinally spaced apart second teeth for engaging the first teeth.
Abstract: An optic cable guide securable to a housing panel and having a guide surface with a radius of curvature to restrict cable bends and projecting over a hole in the panel through which cables pass or alternatively securable to an inner surface of the panel for routing cables within the housing.
Abstract: A cable block particularly adapted for use in the installation of aerial cable comprises a main frame member formed at its upper end with an inverted V-shaped strand engaging hanger section, at its lower end with a U-shaped pulley support section, and with a spring-biased, clamping clutch mechanism supported on the upper hanger section. The clutch mechanism comprises a uniquely dimensioned and configured pair of clamping jaws that are spring-biased together. The jaws grip the interposed strand in such a manner that axial movement of the cable block along the strand is permitted in either direction only when an axial moving force above a predetermined level is applied in that direction to the cable block.
Abstract: A biomedical electrode including a flexible pad having a top surface and a bottom surface; an asymmetrical, linearly aligned array of signal contacts retained by the flexible pad and each having a contact surface projecting from the bottom surface and a coupling surface projecting above the top surface; and a connector including a plurality of connector contacts each being shaped and arranged for electrical connection to a different one of the coupling surfaces. The asymmetrical array of signal contacts facilitates proper positioning of the electrode on the skin.
Abstract: A roughage processing and dispensing apparatus including a mobile frame defining a floor section for supporting a plurality of bales of roughage, a shredder section in which the bales are shredded, a discharge section for discharging roughage shredded in said shredder section and a bin for particulate feed material; a shredder disposed in the shredder section; a first conveyor for moving at least one of the bales into the shredder means at a given speed; and a conveyor system arranged to receive from the shredder the shredded content of the one bale, and to transport the content to the discharge section. Also included is an auxiliary conveyor for moving the feed material to the discharge section at a selected rate; a drive mechanism operable to provide simultaneous movement of the first conveyor, the auxiliary conveyor and the conveyor system; and a control system for varying the given speed relative to the selected rate.
Abstract: A method for remotely monitoring and identifying Functional Activities performed by a test subject, the method including the steps of (a) extracting a given type of signals from each of a predetermined set of muscles of a control subject during the performance thereby of a given Functional Activity; (b) processing the signals to provide therefor given parameters affected by the given Functional Activity; (c) storing the data obtained in step (b); and (d) repeating steps (a)-(c) for a plurality of other control subjects. The stored data then is utilized to establish a normative data base indicative of the given Functional Activity and further steps include (f) extracting the given type of signals from each of at least some of the predetermined set of muscles of a test subject during a given monitoring period; and (g) comparing the data base to the signals of step (f) to identify during the monitoring period portions thereof during which the test subject was performing the given Functional Activity.
Abstract: A water separator for a gas transmission system and including a cylindrical vessel having a front end wall defining a gas inlet, a rear end wall defining a gas outlet, and a bottom wall defining at least one water discharge opening; a tank disposed below the vessel and having at least one water entry opening communicating with the one discharge opening, and a water drain opening; and at least one solid baffle projecting transversely into and obstructing gas flow through an upper portion of the vessel, the baffle being substantially axially aligned with the gas inlet and substantially transversely aligned with the discharge opening.
Abstract: An aquaculture cage including a buoyant upper support for disposition at the surface of a water body; a side wall having an upper edge secured to said upper support so as to project below the surface of the water body, the side wall being formed with a plurality of vertically contractible, non-buoyant panels having vertically adjacent edges joined to form an enclosure and each of the joined vertical edges defining a plurality of vertically spaced apart loops; and an elongated connector element extending through the loops of the adjacent edges so as to secure together the panels. Also included is a bottom wall joined to the side wall to close the bottom of the enclosure.
Abstract: A hair curling brush comprises a convection heater and a barrel which encloses a halogen heating bulb. The barrel comprises a tube having both a plurality of bristles and a plurality of holes adjacent to the bristles. The heating bulb emits both visible light and infrared radiation. The barrel absorbs the infrared radiation but allows some visible light to escape through the holes. The brush includes a blower for forcing heated air from the barrel through the holes. The visible light glowing from the barrel provides an indicator of the heater's energization.
Abstract: An evaporating system for evaporating solvents from chemical samples held in supply plates, which accelerate evaporation by warming the samples in a hot air bath. The system includes adapters to allow the use of supply plates of varying heights, such as either standard micro-plates or deep well micro-plates.

Abstract: A dual in-line portable electric hair drying appliance includes independently operational heaters to provide optimized performance and a multitude of operating conditions that are found to be advantageous in the drying and styling of hair.
Abstract: A string instrument including a body; a headstock; a neck extending between the body and the headstock; and a plurality of tuning mechanisms retained by the headstock and each having a stem with a tuning end and a connection end. Also included are a plurality of strings each having one end connected to the body and an opposite end connected to a different connection end; and a cover covering each connection end and shaped and arranged to prevent physical access to the opposite end connected thereto.

Abstract: An eddy-current apparatus including a movable magnet support tube (25) disposed internally of a brake drum (8), and supporting an array of magnets (15) operable to generate a braking force in the brake drum (8). An outer guide tube (22) covers the magnet support tube (25) and consists of alternating magnetic first sections (41) and non-magnetic or weak magnetic second sections (41a). The outer guide tube (22) is formed of magnetic stainless steel, and the second sections (41a) are formed by being rapidly cooled from a high temperature state (partial solution state) into a non-magnetic or weak magnetic austenite phase.
