  • Patent number: 6220279
Abstract: A faucet assembly 30 includes an underbody 36 having end bodies 40 and 42 which are linked by conduits 44 with a center body 38, and further includes a spout 32 and a attached shank 34, all of which are to be assembled with a deck 56. Portions of the upper ends of the end bodies 40 and 42 are each formed with an annular groove 72 which extend through holes 60 and 62 in the deck 56. A pair of trim flanges 48 and 52 are each formed with a platform 160 having an opening 162 extending therethrough which facilitates the positioning of portions of the platform within the annular groove 72 to retain the underbody 36 with the deck 56. Another hole 58 is formed in the deck 56 above the assembled center body 38 and is formed with an axial passage 76 for receipt of the shank 34.

  • Patent number: 6179130
Abstract: A faucet 40 includes a faucet spout assembly 46 which includes a spout shell 56 for supporting a cartridge 126 containing a filter media therein defining a flow path for water being filtered. The shell 56 and the cartridge 126 define a flow space 138 between the shell and the cartridge for unfiltered water. Water which flows through the flow path of the filter cartridge 126, and unfiltered water which flows through the flow space 138, is directed to a chamber 158 of a valve head 60. A spool valve 210 is located within the chamber 158 and is positionable selectively by manipulation of a knob 62 to allow the filtered water or the unfiltered water to enter the chamber, and to allow the filtered water to be dispensed from the spout assembly 46 through a nozzle 66 or, alternatively, the unfiltered water to be dispensed from an aerator 64.

  • Patent number: 6073972
Abstract: A composite body 20 for a faucet assembly 21 that is mountable on a deck 62 and having a faucet body 22. The composite body 20 has a shank 66 affixed to the deck 62 and cold and hot water supply lines 38 that are connected in the shank 66 by a support plate 102 disposed therein. The faucet body 22 is connected to the shank 66 above the deck 62. The faucet body 22 has cold and hot water openings 32 and 34 therein to be sealingly engaged by the cold and hot water supply lines 38 upon the connection of the faucet body 22 and the shank 66 for the water in the lines 38 to be mixed in the faucet 21 and discharged therefrom. Lastly, a retention ring 90 is mounted over and covers the connection of the faucet body 22 and the shank 66 to prevent accidental disengagement and to limit relative movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6032686
Abstract: A cartridge valve 116 includes a fixed disk 80 and a movable disk 118 mounted in a housing 66. A lever 46 extends through a major opening 72 axially located at one end of the valve 116. The lever 46 is attached to a coupler 130 for facilitating movement of the movable disk 118 relative to the fixed disk 80 to control the flow and temperature of water passing through the valve 116. A flexible valve 144 is attached to the coupler 130 and, in normal use of the valve 116, prevents holes 136 formed therethrough from communicating with a passage formed through the movable disk 118. Air from the environment surrounding the valve 116 can enter the major opening 72, and upon the occurrence of a negative pressure in the water supply, will flex the valve 144 to allow air to enter the supply line to negate the undesirable effects thereof. In another cartridge valve 160, holes 166 are formed through the side wall of the housing 66 to provide further air communication through the holes 136 of the coupler 130.

  • Patent number: 6016830
Abstract: A non-riser valve assembly 30 includes a bonnet or housing 32, a bushing 34, a stem 36, a washer 38 and a stop 40. The assembly 30 further includes a coupling 42, a rotatable or movable disk 44, a fixed disk 46 and a bottom seal 48. In assembly, the bushing 34 and the stem 36 are located within an opening 50 of the housing 32 with the bushing being located between the housing and the stem. One of the stem 36 extends from one end of the opening 50 and the stop 40 is removably attached to the stem to limit the rotational movement of the stem within the housing. The coupling 42 is located in the opening 50 of the housing 32 and is in driving engagement with the opposite end of the stem 36. The movable disk 44 is located with the opening 50 and is coupled to the coupling 42 for rotation therewith. The fixed disk 46 is attached to the housing 32 within the opening 50 and is formed with a surface 224 which is in water-sealing engagement with a surface 162 of the movable disk 44.

  • Patent number: 5946746
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for installing a faucet on a top side of a deck. The apparatus includes a threaded member engaged with the faucet and extending through the mounting hole to be rotated from above the deck. A nut is threadedly connected to the threaded member to pass through the mounting hole to the underside of the deck and to be shifted toward and away from the underside of the deck responsive to the direction of rotation of the threaded member. A second member associated with and parallel to the threaded member engages the nut to prevent rotation thereof during rotation of the threaded member whereby the nut will be shifted up or down along the length of the threaded member responsive to the direction of rotation of the threaded member. A retaining bracket is pivotally connected to the nut and gravity balanced to assume a free position across the nut which is substantially perpendicular to the threaded member when the nut has been shifted downwardly sufficiently away from the deck.

  • Patent number: 5944358
Abstract: In a tub and shower unit, a faucet body 30 facilitates the supply of hot water and cold water either to a tub or a shower head, depending on whether a diverter valve of the unit is set in a tub mode or a shower mode. A reversible ejector tee 82 or 138 is designed for assembly with a center body 84 of the faucet body 30 to insure that hot water and cold water, which is being supplied to the faucet body, will be directed to a spout of the tub when in a tub mode without any water leaking through the shower head. The tee 82 or 138 will facilitate the directing of the water to the shower head when the diverter valve is in a shower mode. The tee 82 or 138 can be reversed in its installed position within the center body 84 to accommodate different orientations of the faucet body 30.
