  • Patent number: 4047244
Abstract: Storage hierarchy comprising a main store with user and program data (L), a control store with micro code (C), and a processor buffer store which is commonly used for both data types (L & C). With no restrictions imposed, allocation of buffer space for L and C type data is self-adapting, since the address and replacement array are used jointly for both types of data.Alternatively, to reserve at least a minimum amount of buffer space for L and C type blocks, respectively, one or two space limit values may be defined and adhered to each time buffer block space is allocated anew. Thus the buffer space may be shared by the two types of data either in a fully overlapping (no space limit values), in a partly overlapping (two space limit values) or in a non-overlapping manner (one space limit value).

  • Patent number: 4027196
Abstract: Erase waveforms effecting improved erase action are provided for a gas panel of the type in which light emitting cells are formed in an ionizable medium at the crossover point of a set of horizontally and vertically extending insulated wires. The erase waveforms include a burst of bipolar pairs of pulses, each pair comprising a low amplitude wide duration erase pulse followed by an opposite polarity narrowed sustain pulse. The burst of pulse pairs being applied during the time frame of a normal sustain operation.

  • Patent number: 3958234
Abstract: Sensor apparatus for taking position signals from either ignited or extinguished cell positions at intersections of the column and row coordinate conductors of a gas tube display screen associated with an information handling system. The sensor apparatus includes a hand-held stylus having a plurality of spaced plates that capacitively interact with the adjacent row-column conductors as signal potentials are applied thereto by the normal gas panel addressing circuitry. The capacitive interaction of the plates causes signals to be picked up from the row-column conductors, the signals being differentially amplified to give a detect signal of the stylus position on the display which has a high degree of resolution, the detect signal in combination with data from the addressing circuitry giving a row-column (X-Y) coordinate address indication of the stylus on the panel for utilization in any associated information handling system.
