Abstract: A fitting is provided for locating and securing a channel-shaped carpet edging cap along the bottom of a wall at a predetermined height above a floor or carpet surface. The fitting comprises an angle section base member and a cap-supporting member adjustably mounted on the base member so that an upper edge of the cap-supporting member can be adjusted to the required height of the cap. In use, the cap is supported on the upper edge of the cap-supporting member in contact with the wall and is secured to the wall by staples which are applied through notches formed in the cap-supporting member.

Abstract: A table construction is provided including an upper peripheral frame and the support legs dependingly supported from peripherally spaced portions of the frame. At least three table top sections are supported from the frame and mounted thereover for guided movement relative thereto along an equal number of generally straight paths extending generally radially of a vertical axis extending centrally through the frame. The table top sections are displaceable along the paths between inner and outer positions and include predetermined outwardly facing marginal portions equipped with upwardly projecting curbs together effectively defining a continuous marginal curb about the top of the table construction within whose boundary a plurality of co-planar panel shaped articles supported from the table top sections may be embracingly engaged.

Abstract: A pair of upper and lower relatively rotatable collar members are mounted on the upstanding neck portion of a bicycle from which the handlebars supported and which is rotatable relative to the frame of the bicycle with the front fork assembly of the bicycle about an upstanding axis concentric with the neck portion. The collar members are slidable along and rotatable relative to the neck portion and interconnected against axial shifting. The frame of the bicycle includes a pull cable actuated rear wheel brake and the handlebar of the bicycle includes a shiftable pull cable actuator. A first pull cable section is operatively connected between the rear wheel brake and the lower collar member and a second pull cable section is operatively connected between the brake actuator and the upper collar member.

At least one additional enlargement is carried by the body spaced equally between the opposite end enlargements and the rod-like body is substantially cylindrical in shape while the enlargements are spherical in shape.

Abstract: A dual temperature beverage dispenser for providing a variety of beverages, both hot and cool from a small, high capacity, coin-activated unit. The dispenser includes a removable operating module which can be stored for safekeeping separate and apart from a water storage unit which becomes inoperative when the operating module is removed. The water storage unit includes a hot water heater including a tank and a storage tank for ambient water oriented above the hot water heater tank for gravity flow of ambient water to the hot water heater tank when required and for gravity flow to a discharge point in the operating module to enable ambient or cool water to be obtained without payment or beverage to be obtained from the dispenser by use of an appropriate coin or token.

Abstract: A rescue net structure for rescuing persons from the sea or other bodies of water is disclosed. The structure has a net with mesh openings which are larger than thigh size but smaller than chest size. The net is attached to side ropes which are provided with floats and the side ropes at a forward end of the structure are extended to form pulling ropes. A sinker rope extends between the side ropes at the rear end of the structure. The sinker rope has the effect of submerging the rear end of the structure in the water, and pulling together rear end portions of the side ropes while their front ends remain open. Thus a partial enclosure is formed into which a person to be rescued can enter and be enmeshed in the net in an upright position.

Abstract: A flood water containment bag constructed of lightweight, inexpensive porous material with a quantity of water absorbent material therein which increases substantially in volume and weight when it absorbs water entering into the interior of the bag. The bag can be easily and quickly transported to a point of use and arranged in a plurality of superimposed courses when in a flattened lightweight condition and will expand to form a water barrier or wall. Fastener strips are attached to top and bottom surfaces of the horizontally arranged bags to enable them to be interconnected to stabilize the formed barrier.

Abstract: An elongated bench support including head and foot ends is provided for disposition in generally horizontal or inclined position and against which a person wishing to carry out bench press exercises may repose on his or her back. Upstanding guide structure is disposed adjacent the head end of the bench support and follower structure is mounted thereon for guided movement therealong. The follower structure includes weight bar supporting structure for supporting a weighted bar therefrom and a foot engageable support is mounted from the foot end of the bench support for guided movement generally longitudinally of the bench support. Motion transmitting structure operatively connects the foot engageable support and the follower structure for raising and lowering the latter responsive to movement of the foot engageable support away from and toward the head end of the bench.

Abstract: A sprinkler assembly having a discharge nozzle for discharging water at a substantially constant volume and velocity driven rotatably about a vertical axis by a water turbine and gear drive for rotating said nozzle at varying rotational speeds in each cycle of rotation for varying the quantity of water discharged along the radial land areas extending from the axis of rotation as the length of the radial land area varies when irrigating a non-circular land area. A movable diffuser is mounted on the nozzle and is drivingly connected with the gear drive by a cam arrangement to vary the radial length and pattern of discharge of water corresponding to the rotational speed of the nozzle with the greatest radial length of discharge of water occurring when the nozzle is travelling at its slowest rotational speed.

Abstract: A heeling rope is provided having the usual hondo formed one end of the rope and a loop being formed by the other end portion of the rope being passed through and slidingly received in the hondo. The loop tip opposite that portion of the loop parallelling the spoke of the rope is weighted throughout a longitudinal extent of the loop generally equal to one-third the peripheral size of the loop. The weighted portion of the loop retains substantially all of its flexibility although slight stiffening of the weighted portion of the loop does exist and the weighting of the loop tip greatly facilitates the feel of the loop by the user immediately prior to release of the loop and spoke of the rope during a heeling roping operation.

Abstract: A leveling tool for accurately marking a pair of points on a horizontal or vertical line, for example for use in hanging pictures or shelves, has an elongate bar provided with a fixed tab member, a longitudinally movable second tab member and bubble gauges set parallel with and at right angles to the length of the bar. The fixed tab member is used as a pivot placed on one of the points, and the tool is swung around the pivot until one or other of the bubble gauges is level. The second tab member is then used to mark the second point.

Abstract: An exerciser with force measuring devices in the form of strain gauges interposed between an impingement member on the exerciser and a strain gauge on the impingement member engaged by the user of the exerciser. The exerciser impingement member includes a handgrip for engagement by the user with strain gauges being interposed between the handgrip and impingement member for measuring forces transmitted therebetween. The impingement member is disclosed as the exercise bar in barbells and the handgrip includes a pair of handgrips spaced from each other on the bar with each handgrip including isolated sets of strain gauges for measuring radial, axial and torque forces exerted by each hand of the user.

Abstract: An impingement member is moved in a predetermined path and direction at a velocity and with a force independent of each other with the user applying a resistance force to the impingement member at any point along or throughout its range of movement. In the disclosed embodiment, a bar is coupled to a pair of mechanical drive assemblies powered by DC motor through a disengageable clutch. Omnidirectional forces transmitted are monitored through sensors associated with the bar during movement thereof along a path by the drive assemblies. A sensor monitors the position, speed at position, direction, and reference information of the drive assemblies. The force and motion data from the sensors may be utilized to evaluate muscle response and provide biofeedback from different loading patterns and to control loading programs.

Abstract: A mount is provided from which a pair of laterally spaced and registered oppositely tapering parallel cones are journaled. A cage is guidingly supported from the mount for adjusted shifting along and between parallel planes containing the adjacent sides of the cones and a spherical power transmission member is universally rollingly supported from the cage and includes diametrically opposite surface portions tightly frictionally rollingly engaged with opposing surfaces of the cones and adjustment structure is provided for shifting the cage lengthwise of the cones.

Abstract: A power wrench utilizing a power transfer mechanism supported in a housing, on a frame or the like by which input rotational torque can be transferred to output rotational torque having different rotational speed and torque characteristics without exerting any reaction force against the housing or frame thereby eliminating the necessity of providing an external anchoring device for the housing or frame with the device having particular utility as a wrench for rotating nuts, bolts and the like but also being capable of effective use for various power transferring functions.

Abstract: A blowout protector for use between sections of well tubing at a well head comprises a flat rectangular housing having top and bottom plates with aligned openings connected to the respective tubing sections, the housing defining an internal chamber. A closure plate is movable piston-wise within the chamber between respective terminal positions at opposite ends of the chamber. The closure plate has an opening therein which aligns with the respective openings in the top and bottom plates when the closure plate is in one terminal position in order to allow well fluid to flow through the protector. In the other terminal position the closure plate forms a barrier to fluid flow through the housing. Fluid pressure inlet and exhaust ports are provided at opposite ends of the housing for moving the closure plate between its respective positions.

Abstract: An elongated trailer tongue having a forward end equipped with tow hitch structure is provided and an elongated handle is supported from the tongue rearward of the tow hitch structure in at least slightly elevated position relative to the tongue. The handle is mounted from the tongue for angular displacement about a vertical axis generally centered transversely of the tongue and the handle and also disposed centrally intermediate the opposite ends of the handle. The handle is angularly displaceable relative to the tongue between two positions with the handle generally paralleling the tongue in the first position thereof and disposed transverse to the tongue in the second position thereof.

Abstract: A picture hanger comprises a bar for attachment to the rear of a picture frame and a collar slidable on the bar. The collar has a notch for suspension on a wall-mounted picture hook. When the collar is suspended on the hook, the bar can be moved in the collar to adjust and level the picture.

Abstract: A pet carrier comprises a sling of flexible sheet material having a body portion with holes for receiving the pet's legs and straps extending from the sides of the body portion which are drawn over the pet's body and secured together so that the carrier may be slung over a user's shoulder or arm or carried in the hand. The carrier provides comfortable and secure support for the pet. A pair of restraining straps are secured to the body portion outwardly of the leg receiving holes with "Velcro" fastening tapes adjustably connecting the restraining straps for snug engagement over the back of a pet to prevent the pet from retracting its legs from the holes thereby securely retaining the pet in the carrier.
