  • Patent number: 4595384
Abstract: A mechanism which maintains drive belt tension substantially constant when the drive belt is mounted on sheaves with a non-fixed center distance such as the sheaves and belt utilized in vibratory earth compaction equipment, shakers and the like where off-centered weights are rotated at high speeds to obtain desired vibrations. The mechanism includes a driven sheave that is mounted eccentrically on the rotating shaft which supports the off-center weight with the eccentricity of the eccentrically mounted sheave being in the same direction as the offset of the off-center weight. This arrangement allows the center distance between the drive sheave and driven sheave to remain relatively constant thus retaining the drive belt tension relatively constant.

  • Patent number: 4595211
Abstract: An elongated thin flexible strip of plastic material is provided for removable securement beneath the ski of a snowmobile. The under surface of the strip is smoothly finished and has substantially no tendency to be subject to a build up of frozen snow thereon under certain temperature and snow conditions which cause snow to freeze to and build up on a metal snowmobile ski under surface. The strip includes longitudinally spaced opposite side tab portions by which elongated tension structure may be utilized to removably secure the strip to the underside of a snowmobile ski and further includes structure for embracingly engaging the usual elongated and longitudinally extending wear and steering bar which projects downwardly from the under surface of a snowmobile ski. Further, the strip is sufficiently flexible for the forward end thereof to project beyond the tip end of the associated snowmobile ski and to be bent back thereover.

  • Patent number: 4593217
Abstract: The bearing plate assembly is removably attached to an end housing of an electric motor in which the end housings of the motor are permanently affixed to the laminated body of the motor by means of anaerobic adhesive. The bearing plate assembly is attached to the end housing by the use of two short thread cutting screws so that it can be quickly and easily removed and replaced. When the bearing plate assembly is removed, the rotor of the motor may be extracted from the housing and reversed so as to reverse the direction of rotation of the motor. The bearing plate assembly is then replaced to complete the reassembly of the motor. By this construction, a motor can be made to run either in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction as desired.

  • Patent number: 4591996
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring stress and strain associated with a pipe, pressurized vessel, structural member or deformable body containing a flaw or stress concentration utilizes a laser beam to illuminate a surface being analyzed and an optical data digitizer to sense a signal provided by the light beam reflected from the illuminated surface. One signal is received from the surface in a reference condition and subsequent signals are received from the surface after surface deformation. The optical data digitizer provides the received signal to an image processor, and the processor stores the signals and correlates the deformed image received with the reference image and then sends this correlated information to a minicomputer which performs mathematical analyses of the signal to determine stress and strain associated with the surface. The apparatus is constructed as one integral unit, and further includes a digital and tape display, as well as a television monitor and an electro-optic range indicator.
