  • Patent number: 5191364
Abstract: Protective eyewear for sports activities and the like having a resilient rigid frame is disclosed. Included is a sealing area around the eyes having a web which diverges outwardly in every direction toward the lens frame. The frame is curvedly contoured around the face of the user and in conjunction with the diverging web, provides both maximum eye protection and peripheral visibility. A semi-rigid frame provides for temple mounting and obviates the need for around-the-head straps.

  • Patent number: 5191461
Abstract: The present invention is for an illumination transmitter. The transmitter projects a signal onto a planar reflective surface such as the ceiling of an open office environment. The transmitter includes a plurality of illumination sources positioned in a line wherein the line has a predetermined orientation to the planar surface. The illumination sources are preferably infrared LEDs. The transmitter has means for jointly aiming the illumination sources toward a desired location on the planar surface. The location on the planar surface is usually used to allow multiple transmitters coupled to infrared receivers to allow communication between computers in a LAN. The transmitter also includes means for maintaining the predetermined orientation between the planar surface and the line. The orientation is usually parallel to allow transmitters located large distances from the illumination to project a relatively small illumination spot onto the planar surface.

  • Patent number: 5187945
Abstract: A refrigerated container incorporating welded corrugated steel external walls having insulation disposed within the interior to form an insulated structure. A refrigeration compressor power by an electric motor together with a diesel engine operatively connected to an electrical generator for supplying power to the electric motor is secured integral with the container externally of the insulated interior but positioned at one end and protected by the extended sides, top and bottom of the container walls. Fuel storage is also provided at one end of the container. Refrigeration evaporators extend longitudinally at the juncture of the sidewalls and the internal ceiling of the container with evaporator coils distributed along both sides of the container; air is forced over the evaporator coils by strategically placed tandem centrifugal blowers directing air outwardly generally parallel to the ceiling and transverse to the length of the container.

  • Patent number: 5170399
Abstract: A Reed-Solomon Galois Field Euclid algorithm error correction decoder solves Euclid's algorithm with a Euclid stack which can be configured to function as a Euclid divide or a Euclid multiply module. The decorder is able to resolve twice the erasure errors by selecting .GAMMA.(x) and T(x) as the initial conditions for .LAMBDA..sup.(0) (x) and .OMEGA..sup.(0) (x), respectively.

  • Patent number: 5165676
Abstract: A method and apparatus for disclosed for shingling stacks composed of flexible planar objects, such as fabric workpieces. The stack is placed over an axis connecting two hinged support surfaces which are rotated relative to one another to bend the workpieces and form a shingle. For subsequent shingling, the rough shingled stack is driven on a conveyor under a series of spreading rollers having positive pressure to drive the rollers onto the stack.

  • Patent number: 5159789
Abstract: A noise baffle for reducing noise in rain gutter systems is provided. A screen or other perforated or fibrous surface is secured beneath a vertical downspout section and above the surface of an angled downspout section for reducing the noise caused by water striking the surface of angled downspouts. The screen eliminates or substantially reduces the noise by breaking the fall of the water falling in the vertical downspout section and dispersing the stream into tiny droplets which do not strike the bottom of the angled downspout section with sufficient force to create noise.

  • Patent number: 5134063
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to differential carbon source metabolism in the genus Listeria, metabolic, biochemical, immunological and genetic procedures to measure said differential carbon source metabolism and the use of these produces to detect, isolate and/or distinguish species of the genus Listeria as well as detect, isolate and/or distinguish strains of species of Listeria. The present invention also contemplates test kits and enrichment media to facilitate these procedures.
