  • Patent number: 4839665
Abstract: In an ink jet recording apparatus, the generation of insufficiently charged or discharged drops which may occur when a charge controlling signal (print pulse) is switched within a forbidden zone of the period of the drop formation process is avoided. The portion of the drop formation process period, during which the switching is permitted, is determined by detecting the charge carried by trains of drops which are produced by probe charge control signal of varying phase relative to the drop formation process.

  • Patent number: 4831984
Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a centrifugal governor for an injection type internal combustion engine, particularly an all speed governor for a small fuel injection pump which is accomodatable in a housing a cam shaft extends through. A flyweight is disposed at an end of the cam shaft so as to produce propulsion power backward, and the movement of the flyweight causes the tension lever, which has a point of support at its center, to rotate, thereby pressing a governor spring assembly of a concentric, multi-core spring which exerts no load on elements that support the spring assembly. The displacement of the flyweight causes via the tension lever the torque cam to rotate. A guide lever and a floating lever are rotatably supported at the lower end of the tension lever, and the opposite end of the guide lever is united with the floating lever by a cancellation spring.

  • Patent number: 4799975
Abstract: A .beta. type titanium alloy material is passed through processes and heating treatments of cold working--intermediate solution treatment--final cold working--final solution treatment--aging. In this process, a structure, which has been provided with strains by the cold working performed prior to the final cold working, will be changed into a recrystallized structure by carrying out the intermediate solution treatment, where uniform and fine micro substructure of dislocations, remain with grains. If such an intermediate solution-treated material is processed with a slight cold working by the final cold working and further with the solution treatment, only a recovery phenomenon progresses, and it is possible to provide such a micro substructure containing more uniform and finer dislocation network not only in grains but also in grain boundaries. Therefore, in the aging, expedition of precipitation and uniform distribution of .alpha.

  • Patent number: 4792687
Abstract: Specially shaped filaments improve the performance of Freeman ion sources. There are many different filament shapes covered by this invention. These shapes have two features in common--they have flat surfaces or facets, and two of these facets must join to form a knife edge. It is the purpose of these facets to direct negative ions away from the extraction slit. These negative ions are emitted from the filament normal to the surface. If the knife edge is directed toward the slit, very little of the negative ion flux can enter the extraction slit. In effect, the filament becomes invisible at the slit as far as negative ion flux is concerned. A converse application in which a large negative ion flux is desirable, requires shaping of the filament with a smooth concave surface in order to maximize the cathode surface normal to the extraction slit.
