    Abstract: This specification discloses a method of completing a well that penetrates a subterranean formation. The formation is vertically fractured and a lower portion of the fracture is propped by hydraulic fracturing techniques leaving an overlying unpropped portion of the fracture. The well is treated to block the communication of the unpropped portion of the fracture with the well.
