  • Patent number: 6651596
Abstract: A continuous flow steam generator with a double-flue construction has a vertical gas flue with an ascending conduction of fuel gas. The combustion chamber rear wall is inclined inwards and towards the combustion chamber in an upper part region and thereby forms, with the bottom of an adjoining horizontal gas flue, a nose which projects into the combustion chamber. Some steam generator tubes of the lower part region of the combustion chamber rear wall are led upwards, uninclined, as supports for the combustion chamber rear wall, as far as a supporting structure located outside the conduction of the fuel gas.

  • Patent number: 6538913
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a ferroelectric memory configuration in the VDD/2 mode. The memory configuration has a large number of memory cells which each have at least one selection transistor, one storage capacitor with an upper and a lower electrode and one short-circuiting transistor whose source-drain junction is connected in parallel with the storage capacitor. After a read or write procedure in which the memory cells are driven via respectively associated word lines and via respectively associated bit lines which are precharged in a precharge phase, the short-circuiting transistor is driven during a standby phase and in the process short-circuits the electrodes in the storage capacitor. The method is characterized in that the time of the standby phase coincides with the time of the precharge phase and, in the process, the bit lines are at a different potential with respect to that of the two electrodes of the storage capacitor.

  • Patent number: 6470801
Abstract: A configuration for triggering a restraining device has firing elements that are optically fired by an associated triggering device. In addition, an optical check signal can be transmitted to the firing element by the triggering device. An evaluation circuit evaluates light signals that have been transmitted to the triggering device. As a function of an evaluated, received light signal, a disable signal, by which emission of a firing signal is prevented, is generated by the evaluation circuit.

  • Patent number: 6471304
Abstract: A brake value signal transmitter that is to be connected to a brake pedal of a motor vehicle senses activations of the brake pedal with a plurality of sensors and converts them into electrical signals. The brake pedal is connected via a rotatably mounted pressure rod to a piston that can be displaced in the interior of a cylinder. A pressure space that is filled with a gas, has a variable volume, and can be filled at least partially with hydraulic oil is provided in the cylinder. The gas is compressed by the piston when the brake pedal is activated, and in the process increases a reaction force acting on the brake pedal.

  • Patent number: 6434949
Abstract: A method for cooling metal components highly heated in a chamber includes effecting a uniform cooling of an entire metal component. The metal component has regions each with a given mass, some of the regions having a larger mass than others of the regions. Housings are provided around regions with the relatively larger masses. The regions are subjected to the inert cooling gas in a controlled manner to a differing extent based upon the mass size. The housings are individually subjected separately with the inert cooling gas. A treatment device for cooling metal components includes a reservoir for holding inert cooling gas and a chamber for receiving a metal component to be cooled. The chamber is connected to the reservoir and has a housing for each of the regions with the larger mass. Each of the housing has an inlet orifice separately connected to the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 6429774
Abstract: A demodulator of an evaluating unit for a device for detecting objects derives a useful signal from a supplied input signal with the aid of a carrier signal. The demodulator further derives a test signal with the aid of a modulated carrier signal. An evaluator detects as a function of the useful signal whether an object is being detected and, as a function of the test signal the functionality of the device.

  • Patent number: 6427026
Abstract: A decoder has a first memory for storing a coded first image. The image is stored in the first memory until it has been decoded at least twice. The results of the decoding operations can be supplied to a playback device. The invention makes it possible to dispense with an output frame buffer for the decoded first image, and thus only little memory is required in the decoder.

  • Patent number: 6408619
Abstract: When determining the amount of a reducing agent solution to be introduced into the exhaust gas of a combustion system, in particular of a diesel engine, for catalytically reducing the nitrogen oxides by the SCR process, the concentration of the reducing agent in the reducing agent solution as well as the parameters characterizing the operating state of the combustion system, the exhaust gas and/or the catalyst are taken into consideration. As a result, the safety margin with respect to a theoretically optimum amount to be introduced that is required to avoid a leakage of reducing agent can be reduced, whereby the conversion rate of the nitrogen oxides is improved.

  • Patent number: 6411167
Abstract: An amplifier output stage is described containing a preliminary stage, a final stage and a control device. The quiescent current that flows through transistors of the final stage is adjusted by the preliminary stage. For this, a current that is proportional to the quiescent current is generated in the control device from which control voltages are derived and controlled. The preliminary stage contains adjustable current sources for adjusting the quiescent current in a final step which are controlled by the control voltages.

  • Patent number: 6404699
Abstract: The integrated circuit has an activation decoder whose outputs are connected to the inputs of a command decoder. When an activation signal is at a first logic level, the activation decoder produces at its outputs a command supplied to it from command inputs. When the activation signal is at a second logic level, the activation decoder produces a deactivation command at its outputs irrespective of the command supplied to it from the command inputs. The command decoder does not activate any of its outputs when the deactivation command is being supplied to its inputs. The command decoder activates one of its outputs in each case when a different command is supplied to its inputs.
