Abstract: A continuous downstacker apparatus is operable for continuously stacking product in a predetermined stacked pattern. The downstacker apparatus includes a pair of lowerating-pushing heads which continuously move in a vertical elliptical walking beam pattern for receiving, stacking and pushing stacked product from a stacking chamber. The product is delivered to the stacking chamber by conveyor means and the lowerating-pushing heads are shiftable on a support frame for vertical and horizontal components of movement during the stacking and pushing cycle.

Abstract: A method of killing soil pathogens to improve the agricultural production of a field comprises the steps of moving a plurality of agricultural tools through the soil and during this movement emitting microwave energy into the soil at a frequency within the range of 2GH.sub.z to 12GH.sub.z. The microwave energy heats the soil organisms to levels sufficient to kill the organisms.

Abstract: A method for detecting the presence of a predetermined amount of oxygen and nitrogen in a luggage type container as a screening technique for determining the presence of an explosive in the container. Generating and accelerating a beam of monoenergetic protons at a neutron generating target formed of boron. Rapidly and periodically subjecting the proton beam to an energy degrading medium upstream of the neutron generating target to thereby selectively degrade the energy of the protons of the proton beam during the time the median is in place while allowing the energy of the proton beam to remain at the original energy when the degrading median is removed. Directing the energy variant proton beam at the boron target to generate an energy variant neutron beam, the neutron beam containing on resonant neutrons at a resonant energy of nitrogen or oxygen nuclei and containing off resonant neutrons outside the resonant energy of the nuclei of nitrogen and oxygen.

Abstract: A vehicle mounted lift apparatus includes a boom having an L-shaped support arm pivotally suspended from the outer end thereof. An occupant supporting bucket is pivotally mounted on the L-shaped arm for rotation about a vertical axis. A brake mechanism is mounted on the L-shaped arm and occupant supporting bucket below the bottom wall of the bucket for locking the bucket against rotation. A brake actuating mechanism is provided for releasing the brake from a normally locked position.

Abstract: A stacker apparatus for continuously stacking articles into vertical stacks for packaging into a case includes a pair of stacking plate assemblies which are mounted on a support frame for horizontal and vertical movement relative thereto. A synchronized cam drive system continuously and successively reciprocates the stacking plate assemblies through an elliptical path of travel to continuously upstack articles fed to the apparatus. The specific operational sequence of the apparatus and its construction provides a built-in surge release and obviates the need for definite shear point.

Abstract: A product for treating bovine mastitis and bovine metritis includes mixture of diacetyl and acetoin. The diacetyl and acetoin is produced by fermentation of milk and is then distilled and concentrated. The concentrated mixture of diacetyl and acetoin is infused into the udder cistern of a cow when treating mastitis, and is infused into the uterus of a cow when treating metritis.

Abstract: A process for killing soil pathogens to improve agricultural production includes the steps of treating a field with a soil conditioning agent to reduce the clods in the soil to microaggregates. Hot water is applied to the treated soil at varying depths to kill soil borne organisms. Beneficial organisms are then applied to the sterilized soil to repopulate the soil with these beneficial organisms.

Abstract: An improved apparatus for cleaning, distributing and aereating grain is mounted in a storage structure and includes a frustro-conical screen device secured symetrically to an imperforate funnel-shaped member. A fan assembly is secured to the funnel-shaped body and is provided with a conduit which extends to the exterior. An adjustable control spout permits uniform distribution of grain upon the screen device where the fine material passes through the apertures in the screen while the grain is discharged into the storage structure. After the cleaning and distribution of steps are completed, the apparatus will then be inverted to position the screen device in the concave crater of the grain pile while positioning the funnel shaped body and fan assembly uppermost. The fan assembly will be energized to aereate the grain and present damage due to mold or fungus.

Abstract: A write-read magnetic head for write-read digital recording machines includes a write magnetic head and a read magnetic head disposed in closely spaced apart relation. Each head includes a shield formed of a ferrous containing material having an opening therein in which the primary (write or read) gap is positioned. Each head includes a magnetic core comprised of a C-shaped core element and on I-shaped core element defining the primary (write) gap. A secondary gap is defined between the I-shaped core element and adjacent wall edge downstream of the write gap. When the recording head is energized, the shields and the secondary flux reduces flux leakages towards the read gap to permit effective reading while writing.

Abstract: A portable ladder rack is formed of a pultrusion composite and is used to support a ladder on a vehicle truck body. The ladder includes a horizontal support frame and spaced apart leg structures. A hold down device effectively holds the ladder on the ladder rack against movement in any direction but the hold down device is shiftable to a release position to permit loading from the side or rear.

Abstract: A mobile support device for supporting a concrete-spreading hose includes a single piece support structure formed of rigid metal and including a pair of wheel attachment members and a central U-shaped hose supporting member. Longitudinally offset caster wheel assemblies are secured to the wheel support members. The U-shaped hose supporting member supports a concrete-spreading hose therein and extends downwardly below the rotational axes of the caster wheel assemblies thereby imparting a stabilizing low center of gravity to the mobile support device. A keeper element releasably locks the supported concrete-spreading hose in the U-shaped hose supporting member, and handle engaging elements on the mobile support device facilitates manual movement thereof by a worker manipulated hand tool.

Abstract: A vision panel assembly for a fire door includes a frame structure and a glass vision panel which are mounted in a rectangular opening in the fire door. The frame structure includes a pair of frames which are anchored in grooves in the fire door and which are clamped against the glass vision panel. One frame is provided with fastener bars which are threadedly engaged by fastening screws for securing the frames together. Panel support elements extend through openings in the fastener bars for engaging edges of the glass vision panel to provide support therefor.

Abstract: A support system for supporting lights, T.V. monitors and similar devices includes sectional rail structures comprising identical rails interconnected together in end-to-end relation. Rails are also connected to directional coupling members in angular relation therewith. Quick-connect, overcenter toggle connector devices interconnect the rails together in end-to-end relation and also interconnect rails to coupling members in angular relation.

Abstract: An odor removing device for toilets includes an odor collector secured to the conventional hinge posts of a toilet bowl. The odor collector has a single inlet opening and is connected in communicating relation to a downwardly convex auxiliary venturi housing which overlays the conventional bathroom ceiling fan. An air stream is introduced centrally into the auxiliary venturi and produces a venturi effect to thereby cause rapid evacuation of the noxious gases, steam and the like.

Abstract: A hardware carrier for carrying sorting and displaying nuts, bolts, washers and lock washers includes a generally rectangular shaped lower base member, an upper base member and a cover. The lower base member has a plurality of openings therein for supporting and displaying bolts of varying sizes. The upper base member has a plurality of posts therein for supporting and displaying a plurality of nuts, washers and lock washers of varying sizes. The upper base member is releasably locked to the cover and lower base member when the hardware carrier is in carrying mode.

Abstract: A track and hinge assembly for swingably mounting a casement sash unit in a window frame includes a track secured to the window frame and a toggle hinge interconnecting the track and the casement window sash. The toggle hinge includes a long toggle link and short toggle link interconnected together and slidably and pivotally connected to the track. The short toggle link is pivotally connected to the track by an adjustable pivot connection, including an octagonally-shaped cam positioned within an octagonal cam opening in the short toggle link. The octagonal cam has an eccentric opening therein through which the track pivot post projects. The octagonal cam may be removed from the cam opening in the short toggle link, and repositioned in the opening to shift the pivotal connection longitudinally of the short toggle link from a centered position in either direction to thereby overcome problems of sash sag during or after installation of the casement window unit.

A boiler and jet assembly is yieldably supported within the pump body and produces jet streams that impel the residual air molecules through the exit port. A ceramic heat break having a labyrinth passage therethrough positively separates the temperature of the condensing wall surface from the boiler temperature. A cooling system permits selective rapid cooling of the boiler and is openable to permit rapid re-heating of the boiler. In one embodiment, the pump includes a room temperature condensing surface, and in another embodiment a non-room temperature condensing surface is provided.

Abstract: A layout tool includes a container having elongate generally rectangular-shaped front and rear walls, rectangular end walls, and a horizontal bottom wall. An opening extends through the central portion of the front adjacent its lower edge and extends into and upwardly through the bottom wall. The front wall has a linear scale on the exterior surface thereof. A chalk line has one end thereof extending through the opening in the front and bottom wall and is wound upon a reel of a chalk line mechanism. A weight is positioned in the container and stabilizes the latter against movement when the chalk line is stretched, pulled taut, and snapped against a surface to form an accurately located layout line on the surface.
