  • Patent number: 4440214
Abstract: A means and method for attaining desired temperature conditions at not only the major extent of the heat transfer surface of a rotary heat transfer roll but also at the edges of the roll. Temperature conditioning fluid is introduced and distributed in part directly into a first end of an annular passage between an inner and an outer roll shell and in part into the annular passage adjacently downstream relative to the first end. Spent conditioning fluid is evacuated from the second end of the passage in part directly from the second end of the annular passage and in part through the inner shell adjacently upstream relative to the second end. While the roll is continuously rotating, the relative temperature conditioning effect of the conditioning fluid is adapted to be selectively controlled in respect to either or both ends of the temperature fluid circulating annular passage in the roll.

  • Patent number: 4409523
Abstract: A pincushion distortion correction saturable reactor is a saturable transformer comprising a core having four legs, controlled and control coils being coupled to the core legs in a perpendicular relation to each other. The core gap for the controlled coil is provided in an unbalanced form, and a parabolic current at the vertical scanning frequency (or at horizontal scanning frequency) containing a superimposed DC component is supplied through the control coil to modulate the inductance of the controlled coil. The inductance of the controlled coil is thus reduced in a region where the magnetomotive force produced by the control coil is greater than that produced by the control coil to preclude deflectional distortion in the neighborhood of the center of the reproduction on the screen and improve the horizontal linearity.

  • Patent number: 4409527
Abstract: Transistor motor control incorporates a transistor bridge circuit for controlling application of power to a DC motor for forward and reverse rotation. The speed of the motor is controlled by pulse modulation, under the control of a digital counter. The counter produces a voltage stair-step waveform which is compared with a feed-back voltage. The direction of motor energization is controlled by the sign of the feed-back signal, and the transistors of the bridge are inhibited for at least one cycle prior to reversing direction.
