  • Patent number: 6590304
Abstract: A method and apparatus for peak load distribution is disclosed. A peak load distributor reduces the demand on a power distribution system by controlling the power available to loads. The apparatus takes an AC current input and a micro-controller executes control algorithms to open and close power outputs to deferrable loads. The outputs are generally put in series with the power applied to a load to disable the load or to lower peak demand.

  • Patent number: 6575268
Abstract: A ladder scaffold support apparatus, ladder stabilizer and ladder scaffolding system is disclosed. The support apparatus generally includes a first bar connected to a second bar at an angle. The bars include planar pads adapted to be affixed to a wall. The apparatus further includes a third bar that is in telescopic arrangement with the first bar. The third bar is adapted to fit through the rung of a ladder. Several brackets can be used to stabilize a ladder against a surface, typically a wall. When one or more ladders are used in conjunction with a platform, the brackets can be used to affix the ladders to a wall. The platform is laid on the rungs of the ladders thereby creating a scaffolding system.

  • Patent number: 6575678
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder having an integral self-contained locking mechanism is described. A locking cylinder includes a housing that contains a screw shaft and a rod/piston assembly. A rod end of the rod/piston assembly can be connected to one load and the end cap, which is located opposite to the rod end, can be connected to another load. The two loads may be two levels of a car trailer. During an extension stroke the screw shaft is released from a locking mechanism inside the housing, allowing the screw shaft to rotate freely. The rod piston assembly, which is in threaded engagement with the screw shaft, moves freely along a longitudinal axis as a pressure is applied, and it unscrews from the screw shaft. When the assembly reaches a desired or maximum extension, the pressure is removed. The piston retracts slightly until the screw shaft re-engages with the locking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6572312
Abstract: A power screw load retention system is described. The system typically includes four power screw sections each having a threaded shaft connected to a power source located within an elongated channel. A carriage is in threaded engagement with the threaded shaft and is adapted to translate within the channel. The carriage is connected to a connecting member such as a chain that connects to the under structure of a vehicle. Typically, the four power screw sections are located on a platform that holds the vehicle. Several of these platforms are located on a vehicle transporter. All of the power sources may be connected to a control unit.

  • Patent number: 6508012
Abstract: A digital fastener size indicator having a housing. A fixed jaw extends from an end of the housing, while a movable jaw extends from the end of the housing adjacent to and parallel with the fixed jaw. A digital electrical length measuring circuit within the housing is connected to the movable jaw. When the movable jaw and the fixed jaw encompass a fastener and the digital electrical length measuring circuit is activated a digital readout will be presented in the housing of a single discrete number to an operator to indicate the size of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 6494604
Abstract: An electronically lighted sighting device for use in conjunction with an archery bow is disclosed. The sight includes an electronic circuitry with at least one switch, a plurality of LEDs and elongated fiber optic pins, and having one end of each fiber optic pin located in front of an LED and the other end extended and formed to act as an aiming point. A fiber optic pin transmits the light from the associated LED to the other end of the fiber optic pin or filament, the filament tip then acts as the bright aiming point. The electronic circuitry is powered by batteries and is programmed such that by actuating the switch the archer can select each of the LEDs, individually or collectively, for illumination, along with illumination intensity levels.

  • Patent number: 6467315
Abstract: An anti-theft device for water craft to secure boats and to secure accessories in three embodiments. The first embodiment discloses a two part locking mechanism comprising a tubular locking bar which reciprocates into locking relationship with a tubular locking cylinder. Both the locking bar and the locking cylinder have projecting and bent locking legs of elongated length configured to enclose the horns of a cleat in secure relationship. The locking bar is capable of being reciprocated into the locking cylinder and locked therein to maintain the locking legs around the horns of the cleat. The second embodiment discloses a locking bar and locking cylinder arrangement wherein the horn engaging locking legs are of relatively thin wall tubular construction and fit around the horns of the cleat. In the third embodiment the horn engaging legs are of circular ring construction and are attached respectively to the locking bar and locking cylinder as described in the other embodiments.

  • Patent number: 6415737
Abstract: The present invention includes spring loaded elongated cylindrical perches incorporated into bird feeders, wherein the perches have typically a round perch member which, when loaded by an undesirable bird or other pest, will sense the weight of the pest and the weight will overcome the spring loaded perch and the perch will collapse at a fulcrum point thereby dislodging the bird or pest. The spring is designed to have the capability of elongating upon the application of a predetermined force being applied to the spring by means of the weight of the pest on the perch, and then the spring will elongate causing the perch to bend vertically downward with respect to the ground dislodging the pest, and when the longitudinal force on the spring is relaxed, the spring then resumes its relaxed length and draws the perch back into battery with respect to the spring housing assembly.
