Abstract: For automatically drilling boreholes within halving joints and frame portions of lattice windows, ejecting glue into said boreholes and inserting dowels, units are proposed, which consist of three dowel inserting devices and three associated glue injecting devices each being operable individually and simultaneously, and which are arranged according to the borehole pattern within the face of a halving joint. For disposing the dowels in magazines and for inserting said dowels into the boreholes in a controlled manner changeable magazines are proposed the bottom of which is arranged above a dowel receiving head and the dowel discharge location is associated to the receiving locations of the dowel receiving head; in this position dowels are transferred into the recesses of the dowel receiving head and are arranged in the discharge position from which they are inserted by means of dowel ejectors into aligned boreholes of a workpiece.

It comprises in combination a guide rail (2; 110) more or less buried in the ground, and an agricultural vehicle such as a lawn mower, provided with a support frame (6; 101), with at least one tool such as a cutting bar (8, 16a, 16b; 102), drive means (4a, 4b, 5a, 5b; 103, 104a, 104b) and guide means (27, 29; 106, 108) mounted movably on said support frame and designed to work with said guide rail to cause said vehicle approximately to follow the guide rail.

Abstract: A sighting device for aiming an astronomical telescope. The sighting device comprises a tubular housing which is removably mountable in the eyepiece holder of the telescope. A light source is mounted within the tubular housing for projecting light into the eyepiece holder to thereby form a beam of light emergent from the front end of the telescope. This beam of light provides a visual indication of the direction in which the telescope is aimed, and the telescope may be aimed at a desired object or area by reference to the beam of light. After the telescope has been aimed, the sighting device is removed and replaced by a normal eyepiece.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an adapter for rendering an earth mover amphibious, comprising a buggy assembly having a pair of buoyant pontoons and tracks that are driven around the pontoons by hydraulic motors situated coaxially with drive sprockets for the track. The track is driven by the motor without an intermediate chain drive, thus avoiding certain environmental and personal dangers.
Abstract: A thermostatically controlled electric heater for aquariums includes within an electric waterproof envelope, a heating element and a working unit regulating the temperature, moving axially in order to vary the rest position of a bimetal strip which, depending on its deformation, opens and closes the supply circuit of the heating element. The regulation unit (3) is provided with a threaded pin (13), the end resting against the bimetal strip (7) and with a cylindrical body (11), provided on the side surface with a helical line (12) dividing the surface of the cylindrical body into two differently colored portions (12) covered by a screen (18) provided with a longitudinal slot (19) through which a short portion of said helical line (12) is visible. A grauated scale is provided along the slot and cooperates with the visible portion of the line to indicate the set operating temperature of the heater.

Abstract: A resistance heater element for an electric room heater includes a resistive heating conductor (1) supported by an insulating support (2) mounted on the support flange (9) of an electric fan (4) in the heater which passes a stream of room air across the conductor (1). The insulating support (2) is cylindrical, with its axis parallel to the direction of the air stream, and includes at least one pair of nested mica bands (5, 5') bound together by fillets (6) connected to the support flange (9). The heating conductor (1) comprises at least one wire of resistive material bent in a zig-zag manner to form a plurality of radial loops each having portions extending inwardly and outwardly of the cylindrical bands (5, 5'). The central portion (11) of each loop is bent over and retained between the pair mica bands (5, 5') with the inner portion of each loop emerging radially from the inner band (5) through apertures (13) provided therein.

Abstract: An apparatus for teaching mathematics which applies and puts to work in various ways the modern teaching of mathematics for all levels of elementary education through set theory, comprises a horizontal board divided into eleven zones and having two outwardly-projecting subsidiary boards. In use, objects can be placed in selected zones of the horizontal board to demonstrate mathematical operations, and information relating to the operation is written on appropriate zones of the vertical board and on the subsidiary boards. The horizontal board has a bevelled front edge portion on which further information can be written, and two portions in which objects to be placed in the zones of the horizontal board can be placed beforehand.
Abstract: A blown circuit breaker indicator utilizing an illuminating device such as a light-emitting diode for indicating whether either a thermal electrical or magnetic circuit breaker has been tripped. The indicating device is provided in a circuit parallel to the main switch of the circuit breaker and includes a reactive element such as a capacitor. The value of the capacitor is less than or equal to 11,000 picofarads.
Abstract: Apparatus for alleviation of pain in a patient comprises a treatment head and a cabinet which houses driving and control circuitry for the treatment head. The treatment head has a central electrode and an outer electrode arranged concentrically with respect to the central electrode. The central electrode has a portion which extends inwardly and serves as a ferromagnetic core around which are wound two insulated coils. The driving and control circuitry produces pulses of electricity in one of the coils which produces magnetic field pulses having a force field which extends externally of the treatment head in the vicinity of the electrodes. These magnetic pulses induce in the other coil electric voltage pulses at the rise and fall of the magnetic pulses and these electric voltage pulses are conveyed to the electrodes. The combined magnetic and electric voltage pulses provides greater relief which lasts longer than either magnetic or electric fields applied alone.
Abstract: Carbonated beverages in bottles lose their carbonation and become flat once the bottle is opened. In this invention carbonation is preserved and maintained in a simple, inexpensive manner by re-introducing pressure into a bottle which has been opened. A small pump consisting of a cylinder, piston and threaded cap is attached to the top of an opened bottle. This hand operated pump re-introduces pressure to the bottle in the form of compressed air and thus maintains the concentration of carbon dioxide in the liquid regardless of the amount of liquid remaining in the bottle. The pump introduces an air pressure of fifty to sixty pounds per square inch to the bottle which is equivalent to the air pressure found in unopened carbonated beverage bottles at 21 degrees celsius.
Abstract: An indicator circuit used primarily, but not exclusively, within a conventional circuit breaker. The indicator circuit consists of a light-emitting diode and a capacitor connected in series and provided on the neutral line of the circuit breaker. The circuit is connected in series with the main breaker switch and the light-emitting diode is energized when the circuit breaker is in the ON position. Alternatively, this indicator circuit can be used to determine the operational status of various load devices.
Abstract: A shoe containing a plurality of pairs of ribs provided between the mid-sole and the outer sole. All of the ribs are provided with at least one bowed or convex surface running the length of the rib. When weight is placed upon the sole, each of the ribs initially begins to deflect until adjacent ribs abut one another at which the ribs begin to compress. An elastic bridging element is provided between each of the ribs provided in a single pair of ribs. Additionally, tubes or plug inserts are provided between at least one pair of ribs or between adjacent rib pairs.
Abstract: The poultry stunner described herein comprises a poultry conveyor and an electrolyte bath below the conveyor and means for applying an electric potential between the conveyor and the bath so as to stun birds on the conveyor as their heads are passed through the bath. The electrolyte bath is continuously aerated and a drainage rack at the end of the basin recovers electrolyte that would otherwise be lost.
Abstract: A spark discharge focused drill provided with one pulse forming line or a number of pulse forming lines. The pulse forming line is connected to an array of electrodes which would form a spark array. One of the electrodes of each of the array is connected to the high voltage side of the pulse forming line and the other electrodes are at ground potential. When discharged in a liquid, these electrodes produce intense focused shock waves that can pulverize or fracture rock. By delaying the firing of each group of electrodes, the drill can be steered within the earth. Power can be fed to the pulse forming line either downhole or from the surface area. A high voltage source, such as a Marx generator, is suitable for pulse charging the lines.
