  • Patent number: 7785287
Abstract: The fluid control device is attached to tubes carrying irrigation solution to form the system. The control device splits the flow through a fiber optic scope and a fluid control unit. The fluid control unit controls rate of flow and direction. The flow of fluid into the joint, out of the joint, or no flow is easily controlled by the operator. The device also allows more than one inflow, useful when using suction or suction shaving devices. The increased flow prevents collapse of a joint space and maintains clear visualization. The fluid flow relies on gravity by having a fluid reservoir positioned at a high point in the system.

  • Patent number: 7756855
Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided, which includes receiving a plurality of first search queries, each of which comprises one or more first query terms. At least one association graph is constructed that includes at least a portion of the first query terms as vertices. A second search query is received from a user, which comprises a plurality of second query terms. One or more suggested replacement terms for one or more of the second query terms are identified, using the at least one association graph. The suggested replacement terms are presented to the user. Responsively to a selection of one of the suggested replacement terms by the user, the selected suggested replacement term is substituted for the corresponding one of the second query terms, to generate a refined search query. Search results are presented to the user responsively to the refined search query. Other embodiments are also described.

The device includes a hollow plug detachably securable to a flexible port positioned about the stoma. The port carries an alarm circuit which is triggered when fecal matter enters the plug lumen which will alert the colostomate to an impending episode. The signal may be vibratory, audible or visible and may be transmitted to a remote location. The device includes an inflatable air cuff which, when inflated, presents a physical barrier to the passage of fecal matter. Gas may pass through filters in the tube. The method involves positioning the device in the stoma, inflating the cuff and generating an alarm when matter is sensed.

  • Patent number: RE41645
Abstract: A light switch is disclosed to turn on or off the light signal in a light channel by means of the response of piezoelectric material to the electric field of light in the light channel. The LIGHT TRIGGERED LIGHT SWITCH is a light switch that is actuated by light of sufficient power. Light of different frequencies may travel in a light channel together without hindering each other, as long as the channel is the right size for both frequencies of light. The light that actuates the switch may be a different frequency than the light signal that is switched on or off. Fiber optic communication channels are among the channels that these switches may be used for.
