  • Patent number: 7860173
Abstract: Data communication in an electrical system according to the present invention uses the time difference between two successive current or voltage pulses to represent different data values. The time differences (?t9??t16) can assume more than two different predetermined values, and thereby each pulse can represent more than one data bit. A central unit of the inventive system transfers data to a number of nodes by modulating voltage pulses onto a base voltage supplying power to the nodes. The time difference (?t9??t12) between successive voltage pulses represents a data value. The nodes transfer data back to the central unit using current pulses, whereby the time difference (?t13??t16) between the latest voltage pulse and the current pulse represents the data sent to the central unit. Data from two or more nodes are possible to transfer simultaneously without disturbing each other. The base voltage on the bus can be AC or DC.

  • Patent number: 7823315
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for substituting a different stock, or a different receiver assembly, in a long gun (e.g., a shotgun) without the use of tools by a user in the field. Applicants' preferred apparatus comprises: a long gun (e.g., an illustrated shotgun) having a stock and a receiver assembly; and an adaptor assembly which removably interconnects the stock to the receiver assembly, wherein the adaptor assembly includes: an adaptor base affixed to the receiver; an end of the stock is mounted onto the adaptor base; and a rotatable locking pin, continuously attached to the base, which can be lifted up and rotated or turned on its axis by 90° to unlock the adaptor assembly. The stock can then be pulled off the adaptor base. Upon a new stock being mounted on the adaptor base, the locking pin can be rotated back to its original orientation and pushed down to lock the adaptor assembly, whereupon the adaptor assembly interconnects the substitute stock with the receiver assembly.

  • Patent number: 7738175
Abstract: A synthetic micro-optic system and security device is disclosed including an in-plane image formed of an array or pattern of image icons and an array of focusing elements, the system producing at least two different synthetic images whereby one synthetic image operates to modulate or control the extent of the appearance of another synthetic image. In an exemplary form, the array of image icons forms an in-plane synthetic image, while the interaction of the array of focusing elements with the array of image icons forms a separate synthetically magnified image that serves to control the field of view of the in-plane image and, thus, serves to modulate or control the extent of appearance of the in-plane image. The appearance of the in-plane image, thus, visually appears and disappears, or turn on and off, depending upon the viewing angle of the system.

  • Patent number: 7621463
Abstract: A fluid nozzle system (nicknamed the “RAP nozzle system”) is disclosed that combines a pulse flow device with a toroidal vortex generator to create a high momentum, self propelling jet for increasing long-range jet impact forces. In a preferred embodiment, the RAP nozzle system comprises a fluid switch, without any moving mechanical part, which takes continuous flow normally exited through a nozzle and breaks it into discrete patterns of pulsed flow. The unsteady characteristics of the pulsed flow are then used with either single-stage ejectors, multi-stage ejectors or other devices to increase the momentum and/or the lateral size of the individual pulses. These fluid pulses are then used to generate a jet with large scale, stable toroidal vortices which travel long distances, downstream of the ejector(s), and apply large forces at impact.

  • Patent number: 7553080
Abstract: An improved rotating anode x-ray tube housing is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment: a single cable, insulated with Ethylene-Propylene Rubber (“EPR”), has an extended Federal Standard terminal or plug mounted within an extended Federal Standard receptacle, attached to an anode end of the housing; the cable is designed to carry up to approximately 150 kV to power the cathode; and insulation of the plug also insulates the 150 kV from a grounded center portion of the x-ray tube and the anode disk area. The longitudinal axes of the anode and high-voltage plug are parallel to one another. This new configuration allows the cathode plug and receptacle to be moved virtually entirely inside the housing. This results in absolute minimal size of the assembly, and a single cable that exits parallel to the rotational axis of the housing.

  • Patent number: 7549654
Abstract: A wheel-mounted, heavy-duty wire rack system for shipping, storage, and delivery of environmental suits and other garments includes a multi-shelf wire rack mounted on a sturdy wheeled base. The base is a steel frame with four casters and a pair of forklift guides attached to the underside of the frame. The multi-shelf wire rack is attached to the topside of the frame, and includes four upright posts and a plurality of reinforced wire shelves attached to and extending between the posts. Further, a set of wire mesh panels is attached to the posts and shelves to enclose the sides of the wire rack, thereby forming a single front opening for each shelf. Fabric covers are positioned over the multi-shelf wire rack for preventing items from falling out during shipping and handling. Additionally, fabric shelf dividers or bins are positioned on the shelves for storage and organization of smaller items.

  • Patent number: 7467490
Abstract: A display clamp assembly, and a related method, are disclosed for removably attaching a second barrel to a shotgun for display purposes, allowing a retail store (or a buyer) to display the firearm as a combination unit in a display case. The extra barrel is attached onto and substantially parallel to the barrel of the fully assembled shotgun. In the preferred embodiment, the display clamp is longitudinally split into two halves. The two halves are mirror images that can be bolted together, along their midsections. When joined, the two halves form collars on opposite ends. One collar is designed to snugly fit around the barrel of an assembled shotgun. The second collar has flared ends that guide the second barrel into the clamp.

  • Patent number: 7421378
Abstract: In a diagnosing method for an apparatus having movable mechanical components and a diagnosing device, an instantaneous total supply of power is measured and recorded as a function of time. A dynamic physical power-flow model of the driven apparatus is created. The model is described by means of parameters directly connected to mechanical and/or electromagnetic quantities of the individual components of the apparatus. The parameters are adapted to fit the power consumption calculated from the model to the recorded power signatures. A diagnosis is performed based on the adapted parameters. The diagnosing device has a power meter and a processor, the processor being arranged for: obtaining a power signal representing supplied power as a function of time; providing the dynamic power-flow model; and adapting values of model parameters of the dynamic physical power-flow model to fit signatures of said power signal and for diagnosing the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7364399
Abstract: A wind power plant having a tower open at the top and provided with a side inlet for the wind for generating a cyclone in the tower and a substantially horizontal turbine that has inlets through the base and an outlet to the center of the cyclone in the tower and that is driving a generator. The tower is rotatable and has a non-circular elliptical shape viewed in the horizontal plane. This shape increases the power of the wind power plant as compared to a tower with a circular shape. During operation, the tower is turned so that the wind inlet is always facing the wind.
