  • Patent number: 4000745
Abstract: The electrical leads for cardiac stimulators comprise an insulated electrical conductive section and a lead-in securing section including a helical member which may be screwed into the heart muscle. Preferably, there is interposed between these two sections a non-insulated electrical conducting section which becomes embedded in the heart upon insertion of the electrical lead. If there is any breakage between the lead-in securing section and the rest of the electrical lead, electrical impulses are still supplied to the heart by the cardiac stimulator. An insertion tool is provided to attach the electrical lead to the heart. This invention relates to methods and means for attaching a pacemaker or cardiac stimulator to the heart of animals and humans. It also relates to a cardiac stimulator system for S-A node heart blockage and a method for resisting coronary insufficiency. The beat of human and animal hearts is controlled by electrical impulses entering the atrium and passing through to the ventricles.

  • Patent number: 3984138
Abstract: An apparatus for retrieving individual or a plurality of balls such as tennis balls from a playing court and for automatically storing the balls which includes a metal wire or rod frame in which the retrieved balls are stored. The frame has an exit opening at one end and an entrance opening at an opposite end thereof. Restraining rods are secured across the entrance opening and are positioned in the entrance opening to define a plurality of entry spaces of graduated dimensions, all less than the diameter of a ball so that the ball must be squeezed through the entry spaces into the central storage area afforded by the frame.

  • Patent number: 3979847
Abstract: An improved method and tool for installing an identification tag into the ear of an animal. The tool comprises a handle portion and an elongated insertion portion having an end portion with a flat top surface and opposed blunt edges converging to form a sharp piercing tip. The tool also has engagement means for engaging a portion of an animal identification tag which is to be forced through the ear. In carrying out the method, the pointed tip and blunt edges are forced through the ear of an animal to pierce and stretch the tissue, and to create an opening. A portion of the identification tag is passed through the opening, and the tool is withdrawn while leaving the tag in place.
