Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for characterizing square wave jerks in the eye movements of a person, which may provide a powerful tool in the differential diagnosis of oculomotor and neurological disease. The method includes the steps of a) providing a sequence of saccades, b) identifying pairs of consecutive saccades of the sequence, c) determining whether each saccade of each identified pair is opposite the direction of the other saccade and, if not, then discarding the pair, d) determining whether a magnitude of each saccade of each identified pair is comparable and, if not, then discarding the pair, e) determining whether the pair of saccades of each identified pair are temporally related by a predetermined time period and, if not, then discarding the pair and f) collecting any remaining pairs of saccades as square wave jerks.

Abstract: An LNG sampling system is provided which includes a sampling probe. The sampling probe includes a backflow prevention check valve positioned within the probe adjacent the inlet end. The probe is inserted into a source of LNG to extract samples of LNG by providing a pressure differential between the probe piping system and the pressure of the LNG within the source. In the event the pressure in the piping system increases above a predetermined amount, the check valve will close preventing backflow of LNG from the sampling system back into the source.

Abstract: A device for engaging and rotating a glad hand. The device featuring a receptacle and an adaptor flange. The receptacle shaped to allow a glad hand to be seated therein. The receptacle formed by a base and at least one side wall extending from the base. The adaptor flange axially extending from an exterior surface of the base of the receptacle opposite the at least one side wall, the adaptor flange having a body, a central cavity and a open end opposite the base, the central cavity of the adaptor flange extending longitudinally within at least part of the body from the open end.

Abstract: A system and method of exporting and playing video from different video recorders at the same time and in a single viewing window while maintaining the integrity of the video is provided. The method includes selecting a plurality of data collection devices, selecting a plurality of video data streams capture or recorded by the selected data collection devices, exporting the selected video data streams, packaging the exported video data streams, and playing the packaged video data streams substantially simultaneously. Each of the selected video data streams has a respective original format with some formats different from others, and each of the packaged video data streams is played in its original format.

Abstract: A method of secondary oil recovery is disclosed wherein from 0.1 to 100 000 ppm of a medium soluble aminoalkylene phosphonic acid amine salt are used wherein both the aminoalkylene phosphonic acid moiety and the amine moiety are selected from a specifically defined class of compounds. The substantially medium soluble aminoalkylene amine phosphonates exhibit a significantly improved compatibility with the recovery medium and thus can propagate fairly freely into the medium and consequently cover a largely extended rock surface before being subject to precipitation in the form of a medium insoluble scale inhibitor. The amine compound is represented by combinations of structurally different compounds.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for recording a call between a client and an agent through an automatic contact distributor. The method includes the steps of the automatic contact distributor receiving a recording request from the agent, the automatic contact distributor activating a recording program, the recording program sniffing traffic within a packet telephone of the agent to detect packets exchanged between the agent and client and the recording program recording the detected packets between the agent and customer.

Abstract: An anchor assembly for use in joining together a masonry wall structure and a supporting back wall structure wherein the back wall structure is preferably formed using insulated concrete form (ICF) blocks each having a pair of opposed ICF panels associated therewith, the anchor assembly including an anchor member and a tie member. The anchor member includes an anchor portion adapted to penetrate one of the ICF panels and having at least one opening associated therewith so as to lie between the opposed ICF panels when attached thereto for allowing poured concrete to flow therethrough, and an attachment portion having a tab member positioned and located to overlay an ICF panel flange member when the anchor member is inserted within the ICF panel, the tab member being attachable to the ICF panel flange member.

Abstract: A backpack system is provided including an external frame, a pack bag and a sling configured for extending between the frame and pack bag providing a space between the frame and pack bag for accommodating heavy or bulky cargo therebetween. The sling can be extended or retracted in order to selectively adjust the distance between the pack bag and frame. The backpack system may also include a pouch for supporting a lower end of relatively long object therein, which may be carried in the space between the pack bag and frame. In one embodiment, the pack bag is equipped with stiffening members for supporting the pack bag when not mounted directly to the frame.

Abstract: The dryer comprises a casing having a longitudinal axis, a mixing shaft, a circular plate that seals an opening made in one of the end walls of the casing, and a frame supporting the casing and the shaft. In the edge portion of the opening closest to the chamber a first circumferential groove is made which is formed by a first radial cavity and by a second radial cavity deeper than the first, joined by an axial portion. An annular sealing element made of a non-stick material, having a cross-section comprising at least one axial strip and one radial strip, is inserted into the first groove in such a way that the radial strip is inserted into the second cavity and the axial strip occupies the axial portion and the mouth of the first radial cavity.

Abstract: To provide a highly reliable semiconductor device (an RF tag) which operates normally even when a communication distance is extremely short, a protection circuit (a limiter circuit) for protecting an element which forms a semiconductor device (an RF tag) capable of wirelessly communicating data is provided. When the DC power supply potential which is generated in a rectifier circuit is equal to or greater than a predetermined value (a reference value), the protection circuit is made to operate, and the value of the generated DC power supply potential is reduced. On the other hand, when the DC power supply potential which is generated in the rectifier circuit is equal to or less than the predetermined value (reference value), the protection circuit is made not to operate, and the value of the generated DC power supply potential is used without change.

Abstract: An information delivery device interacting with a user's eye, the device comprising an eye characteristic reader for reading at least one characteristic of the user's eye, a retinal projector for projecting information onto the retina, and an eye characteristic processor operative to receive at least one characteristic of the eye and to select the information based at least partly thereupon. A content protection system may comprise a multiplicity of such eye characteristic readers and a content protector receiving said at least one characteristic from such readers and controlling the user population's use of content to be protected based on that at least one characteristic. Related apparatus and methods are also provided.

Abstract: A flexible multi-processor communications system supports variable message lengths and variable groups and application designations at respective processors. The receiving processors determine what action, if any, needs to be taken in response to the combination of group and application information in the messages. The receiving processors can include pluralities of pre-stored groups and applications along with associated priorities and the functions to perform.

Abstract: An inexpensive display device, as well as an electrical apparatus employing the same, can be provided. In the display device in which a pixel section and a driver circuit are included on one and the same insulating surface, the driver circuit includes a decoder 100 and a buffer section 101. The decoder 100 includes a plurality of NAND circuits each including p-channel TFTs 104 to 106 connected to each other in parallel and other p-channel TFTs 107 to 109 connected to each other in series. The buffer section 101 includes a plurality of buffers each including three p-channel TFTs 114 to 116.

Abstract: To realize a semiconductor memory device whose capacitance value per unit area in a memory cell is increased without increase in the area of the memory cell. The memory cell includes a transistor, a memory element, a first capacitor, and a second capacitor. The first capacitor includes a semiconductor film, a gate insulating film, and a gate electrode which are included in the transistor and is formed at the same time as the transistor. The second capacitor includes an electrode which is included in the memory element and an insulating film and an electrode which are formed over the electrode. Further, the second capacitor is formed over the first capacitor. In this manner, the first capacitor and the second capacitor which are connected in parallel with the memory element are formed.

Abstract: A light emitting element of the invention includes n pieces of light emitting layers (n is a natural number) between first and second electrodes. A first layer and a second layer are provided between the mth light emitting layer (m is a natural number of 1?m?n) and the m+1th light emitting layer. The first and second layers are contacted to each other. The first layer contain a substance that transports holes easily and a substance with an electron accepting property. The second layer contains a substance that transports electrons easily and a substance with an electron donating property. Molybdenum oxide is used as the substance with the electron accepting property.

Abstract: A FET is formed on a semiconductor substrate, a curved surface having a radius of curvature is formed on an upper end of an insulation, a portion of a first electrode is exposed corresponding to the curved surface to form an inclined surface, and a region defining a luminescent region is subjected to etching to expose the first electrode. Luminescence emitted from an organic chemical compound layer is reflected by the inclined surface of the first electrode to increase a total quantity of luminescence taken out in a certain direction.

Abstract: A method of route retrieval is provided comprising initializing a first weighted graph, converting a blueprint of an area into a weighted graph, updating the weighted graph in real time, and calculating an optimal route in the area.

Abstract: Disclosed is a novel organic semiconductor material which has a twisted quaterphenylene skeleton as a central unit and simultaneously possesses a skeleton having an electron-transporting property and a skeleton having a hole-transporting property at the terminals of the quaterphenylene skeleton. Specifically, the organic semiconductor material has a [1,1?:2?,1?:2?,1??]quaterphenyl-4-4??-diyl group, and one of the terminals of the [1,1?:2?,1?:2?,1??]quaterphenyl-4-4??-diyl group is bonded to a skeleton having an electron-transporting property such as a benzoxazole group or an oxadiazole group. A skeleton having a hole-transporting property such as diarylamino group is introduced at the other terminal. This structure allows the formation of a compound having a bipolar property, a high molecular weight, an excellent thermal stability, a large band gap, and high triplet excitation energy.
