Abstract: A Diffuse Reflective Light Curtain System comprises at least one light curtain defining a border of a work zone for a robotic machine. Each light curtain comprises a primary board having multiple wells formed therein. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) and light detectors are alternately placed in the multiple wells. The LEDs shine light up from the wells to form a curtain of light above the primary board. If an object comes into contact with the curtain of light emitted from the LEDs, the light is reflected back to toward the board and enters the wells of the board where the light detectors sense the presence of LED light. When the light detectors in the wells sense the presence of LED light, they send a signal to a controller to indicate that the light curtain has been breached by a foreign object. The controller, in turn, suspends the operation of the robotic machine that is protected by the light curtain.

Abstract: An MRP system that operates on a single data set containing records for all item demands and supplies. The file may be opened under a demand alias and a supply alias to expedite MRP regeneration. A second item master extension file includes data for each item which is subject to MRP, which further contributes to improved MRP regeneration time. Item low level codes for an item are recalculated in real time whenever a bill of material referencing the item is created or modified. Therefore, low level codes need not be calculated during MRP regeneration.
Abstract: A device for cutting filler material from concrete joints comprises a blate attached to the front of an elongated arm, the elongated arm is pivotably joined to a mounting plate. The elongated arm is limited in its movement by a retention bar located on a front edge of the mounting plate and a spring which biases the elongated arm toward the center of the mounting plate. An attachment lip is provided on the front edge of the mounting plate to assist in securing the mounting plate to a bucket of a power machine such as a front end loader. Bolts extending through the mounting plate and a rear turnbuckle also assist in securing the device to the bucket. Mounting is accomplished by placing the mounting plate in the bucket and hooking the lip around the front edge and under the bottom of the bucket. The rear turnbuckle includes a V-plate that engages the top rear of the bucket along the top rear edge.
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and retrieving labware comprises at least one labware hotel having a frame, a plurality of support arms for receiving and supporting labware, and an elevator capable of moving the support arms in unison. The support arms are periodically located upon an elevator cable and are removable from the cable such that the distance between adjacent support arms may be varied. A labware shuttle having a labware receiving surface is capable of holding and transporting labware between a first and second position. The first position is directly below a labware hotel and the second position is a location remote from the labware hotel. When the shuttle is in the first position, support arms from the labware hotel may engage labware held on the shuttle to remove labware from the shuttle or place labware upon the shuttle. When the shuttle is in the second position, the labware receiving surface may be rotated so that the labware upon the shuttle may be presented in at least two angular orientations.
Abstract: An alternator having a sensorless power angle control includes a three phase stator winding and three stator winding outputs connected to a controlled full wave rectifier bridge with a dc output. The controlled full wave rectifier bridge includes upper MOSFET switches and lower MOSFET switches with body diodes. Operation of the alternator results in a three phase back EMF generated in the stator windings and phase voltages across each of the stator windings. The output of the alternator is increased by introducing a phase shift between the back EMF and the phase voltages, resulting in an optimized power angle. In order to provide a reference for the phase of the back EMF, a zero crossing detector is provided which monitors the zero voltage crossings across the body diodes of the lower MOSFET switches. The negative to positive zero voltage crossings across the body diodes of the lower MOSFET devices correspond to the negative to positive zero crossings of the three phase back EMF.
Abstract: The present invention fulfills the above stated needs, as well as others, by providing a automated container sealing apparatus that automatically removes seals from a backing and applies the seals to the container. The seals are pre-cut and have a size corresponding to the size of the container. In an exemplary embodiment, the present invention includes an apparatus for sealing containers, the containers defined by a generally planar sealing surface and one or more receptacles, wherein each of the one or more receptacles include an opening coplanar with and defining corresponding openings in the sealing surface.
Abstract: A movement-responsive system for conducting tests on freely-moving animals is disclosed. The invention includes a container for housing the animal, a mechanism for rotating the container in response to rotational movement of the animal, and one or more test leads connected to the animal for performance of biomedical tests such as infusion, in vivo ultrafiltration, laser-doppler monitoring of blood flow, electrical stimulation and in vivo microdialysis, and a method for automated micro sampling of body fluids in free-moving animals. Because the cage is rotated in response to the animal's rotational movement, no swivel connectors are needed. A rotational sensor assembly is provided to detect rotational movement of the animal within the container. A vertical sensor assembly is mounted to the counterbalanced arm for monitoring vertical movements of the animal. The outputs of the sensor assemblies are routed to a computer or other device for monitoring and/or analyzing the activity of the animal.

Abstract: An automated calling system includes a database comprising phone numbers and one or more data fields associated with each phone number. Phone numbers (callees) in the database are selected based on the data fields associated therewith. A recorded voice message is transmitted to callees through a plurality of outgoing phone lines, and callees are prompted to enter one of several TOUCH TONE codes, which is recorded. The database record for the callee is automatically updated based on the TOUCH TONE response code, so that the updated field may be used to select whether to send a future call to the callee.
Abstract: A method for measuring the coupling capacitance between two interconnect lines of an integrated circuit structure having a ground plane. The steps include shorting the first and second lines together and measuring a first capacitance (Ct) between the ground plane and the shorted first and second lines; eliminating the short between the first and second lines; shorting the first line to the ground plane and measuring a second capacitance (C1) between the second line and the shorted ground plane and first line; eliminating the short between the first line and the ground plane; shorting the second line to the ground plane and measuring a third capacitance (Cc) between the first line and the shorted ground plane and second line; and determining the coupling capacitance between the first line and the second line according to the formula Cc=(C1+C2-Ct)/2.
Abstract: A process for polymer deformulation by solvent solution filtration begins by including formulated polymers and/or polymer products in a recycle stream. The formulated polymer products include a quantity of soluble polymers and/or insoluble polymers, soluble and/or insoluble colorants, formulations and additives. The recycle stream is placed in a solvent, taking the polymer and formulations into a solvent/polymer solution. Next, the solution is processed through a filtration stage. A quantity of mineral filter aid particles are then added to the solution to adsorb formulations contained in the solution. One of the mineral filter aids must be some form of carbon, preferably activated carbon. Other mineral filter aids may include diatomaceous earth. The solvent/polymer solution is then subjected to an additional polish filtration stage to remove substantially all of the mineral filter agents and associated formulations.
