  • Patent number: 5707959
Abstract: A process for preparing high density detergent compositions is provided. The process comprises the steps of: (a) continuously mixing a detergent surfactant paste and dry starting detergent material into a high speed mixer/densifier to obtain detergent agglomerates, wherein the ratio of the surfactant paste to the dry detergent material is from about 1:10 to about 10:1; (b) mixing the detergent agglomerates in a moderate speed mixer/densifier to further densify and agglomerate the detergent agglomerates; and (c) drying said detergent agglomerates so as to form the high density detergent composition. The dry detergent material may contain a builder material including a crystalline microstructure in which a carbonate anion, a calcium cation and at least one water-soluble cation are contained. The process may include one or more additional processing steps such as adding a coating agent such as the builder material described herein after the moderate speed mixer/densifier to facilitate and control agglomeration.

  • Patent number: 5705469
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the manufacture of a liquid detergent composition comprising a sulphiting agent and an enzyme system. Said enzyme system and said sulphiting agent interact together so as to generate odors which result in an odor deviation in said detergent composition. In the process of the invention, said enzyme system and said sulphiting agent are intimately mixed together separately from the remainder of the detergent composition so as to generate said odors outside the remainder of said detergent composition. Also disclosed is an enzyme premix consisting essentially of said enzyme system and said sulphiting agent.

  • Patent number: 5648112
Abstract: Chilled or shelf stable beverage products which are physically stable, visually opaque and do not precipitate over time, and a process for preparing these products, are disclosed. These products contain from about 5 to about 99.8% milk, from about 0.05 to about 0.8% of a food stabilizer and a food acid. The first step of the process involves mixing milk with a food stabilizer under high shear mixing conditions to form protein/stabilizer particles having a median particle size of less than about 0.8 microns. Then, while still maintaining the particle size of the protein/stabilizer particles at less than about 0.8 microns, the protein/stabilizer mixture is acidified to a pH ranging from about 3.2 to about 4.5. In order to maintain the requisite particle size of the protein/stabilizer particles during the acidification step, the protein/stabilizer mixture is maintained under high shear mixing conditions at a temperature ranging from about 4 to about 30.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5648483
Abstract: Polyol polyesters can be made by a transesterification reaction of a polyol with a lower alkyl fatty acid ester. A by product of that reaction are the alcohols from the lower alkyl esters. These are usually removed from the transesterification reaction by inert gas stripping. The process herein links the transesterification reaction with a lower alkyl ester formation reaction. The transesterification reaction acts as a the source of the lower alkyl alcohols for the formation of the lower alkyl esters used in the polyol fatty acid polyester synthesis. A preferred method for both reactions uses a reactive absorption column.

  • Patent number: 5622721
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a novel enteric-coated oral dosage form of a risedronate active ingredient comprised of a safe and effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition which is comprised of a risedronate active ingredient and pharmaceutically-acceptable excipients. Said dosage forms prohibit the exposure of the risedronate active ingredient to the epithelial and mucosal tissues of the buccal cavity, pharynx, esophagus, and stomach and thereby protects said tissues from erosion, ulceration or other like irritation. Accordingly, the said dosage forms effect the delivery to the lower gastrointestinal tract of said human or other mammal of a safe and effective amount of the risedronate active ingredient, and substantially alleviate the esophagitis or esophageal irritation which occasionally accompanies the oral administration of risedronate active ingredients.
