    Abstract: An apparatus for the grading of fish into various size categories, utilizing a series of panels with progressively smaller spaces between grading bars on the panels. The panels are attached to a panel box that may be raised or lowered within a holding vat. Water constantly flows through the holding vat, up through the panel box, and out over a spillway at the top front of the holding vat. By raising the panel box, the largest fish are forced out of the holding vat and down the spillway by the grading bars on the panels inside the panel box. Smaller fish swim through the grading bars on the panels with wider spaces between grading bars, and are not forced out of the holding vat until a lower panel with narrower spaces between grading bars is raised to the edge of the spillway. The constant flow of water up and toward the spillway causes the fish to instinctively swim downward and align themselves parallel to the grading bars and keeps the fish oxygenated during the grading process.

    Abstract: A device for defogging and deicing windshields and other glass surfaces is described. The device comprises two air channels that each circumscribe a glass surface, one channel along the interior edge of the glass surface and the other along the exterior edge. Each of the channels feature numerous outlets that disperse hot air onto the glass surface, thereby blanketing the glass surface in hot air on both sides. The two channels may be incorporated into a single boot made of rubber or some other material that doubles as a gasket to hold the windshield or other window in place. An electric heating element may be incorporated into the device so that warmed engine coolant passing through a traditional vehicle heater system coil is unnecessary. Several such devices may be incorporated into a vehicle to heat each glass surface individually.

    Abstract: A composite allograft press comprises a loading frame and a two piece mold to form an composite allograft and in particular an acetabular cup from impacted cancellous bone chips and cement. Pressure is applied by a manually operated lever through a rack-and-pinion gear mechanism to a plunger attached to one part of the mold. Compression load switches in-line with the plunger indicate the correct loading to the mold to produce a composite allograft in which the inner surface is smooth and comprised essentially of hardened bone cement material. The outer portion of the allograft may have limited cement extrusions but the exterior of the cup primarily shows exposed cancellous bone surface. In surgery a composite allograft; e.g., an acetabular cup, is fixed in the acetabulum with bone screws to fill an acetabular defect. A plastic liner is affixed with bone cement directly to the composite allograft cup to receive the femoral component.

    Abstract: A modular trapping system that functions in a holding or a terminating mode on dry land, adjacent water or in water. The system comprises several interchangeable, user selectable components that may be conveniently assembled into a desired trap configuration in a minimal time period. The primary components are a cylindrical body with a tapered end, an entrance, and a terminus. In the preferred embodiments, the entrance and terminus may be threadably secured to the body. The entrance components generally comprise a hollow elongated tubular frame supporting a door controlled by a conventional actuating mechanism. The terminus components comprise a hollow elongated tubular frame with a transparent end wall. Several optional inserts may be placed inside the body to enhance the trap. An optional stand may also be used to place the trap adjacent or in bodies of water. The configured trap may be deployed in either a holding or extermination mode.

    Abstract: A method of treating various anxiety-related disorders, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, panic attacks, or general anxiety disorder is disclosed. It has been found that the P1 midlatency auditory evoked potential of such patients undergoes increased amplitude and decreased habituation. Stimulation of three specific acupuncture points LR3, HT3, and PC6) on three different acupuncture meridians has been found to reduce the amplitude of the P1 potential using 20-minute periods of stimulation. Low frequency stimulation (around 5 Hz) was found to be most effective. Repeated periods of stimulation were also found to increase the effect of the treatment.

    Abstract: An improved process for the manufacture of polyester resin from the esterification of an aromatic acid with a glycol followed by polycondensation in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst in which spent glycol is removed during the course of the polycondensation reaction along with insolubles, large particulates, low molecular weight oligomers, metal oxide catalyst, cation impurities and anion impurities, and trace amounts of other impurities in which the temperature of the spent glycol is increased to maintain the monomer dissolved in solution while passing the spent glycol to a crossflow membrane filtration device with sufficient fluid velocity across the crossflow membrane filtration device to maintain turbulent flow. The glycol permeate is recycled to the esterification process while the concentrated insolubles are separated from the purged retentate.

Compressible items may be loaded onto the platform, after which the platform is raised so that compressible items may be loaded between the floor and platform. The roof may then be lowered, compressing both those items between the roof and platform and those items between the platform and floor.
