Abstract: A method and apparatus for charging and discharging batteries is disclosed comprising solid-state devices wherein the power removed from the battery during the discharge operation is converted and transferred to an alternating current power line wherein this delivered power is consumed by the loads normally on the line. Conversely, the apparatus may be used to remove power from the power line to charge batteries.
