  • Patent number: 5656807
Abstract: A 360.degree. surround photon detector/electron multiplier having: i) a continuous annular inner wall formed of thin light-transmissive material defining an internal coaxial detection chamber; ii) an annular enclosed evacuated envelope integral with the inner wall; iii) a cylindrical photocathode positioned adjacent the vacuum side of the inner wall; and iv), an electron multiplier assembly housed within the envelope for multiplying photoelectrons emitted from the photocathode and operable as a plurality of adjacent, circumferentially arrayed electron multipliers, each including an output terminal. The outputs originating from various segments of the photocathode may be utilized with coincidence circuitry requiring simultaneous detection of light events in at least two different sections of the photocathode in order to eliminate spurious signals such as result from thermal electron emissions from the photocathode.

  • Patent number: 5603201
Abstract: A blister package, method for forming the same, and backing sheet for use therewith, wherein the package includes: i) a planar backing sheet having one or more die-cut portions, a series of spaced score lines formed in the backing sheet adjacent each die-cut portion, the material of the backing sheet adjacent each die-cut portion being folded upwardly out of the plane of the backing sheet about a first score line, folded laterally about a second score line, and folded downwardly about a third score line to form at least one hollow projection extending out of the plane thereof; ii) a vacuum-formed clear plastic blister pack cover having at least one compartment formed therein for containing product(s) to be packaged, and one or more projections formed therein complemental in shape, number and location to the folded hollow projection(s) formed in the backing sheet; iii) the backing sheet and cover being disposed in face-to-face relation with the product(s) to be packaged disposed therebetween within the compart

  • Patent number: 5590618
Abstract: A liftarm assembly having: i) a mounting socket and base assembly for attachment to a support; ii) a vertically extending mounting tube non-rotatably but pivotably secured to the mounting socket and base assembly; iii) a sheave mounted in the mounting tube for rotation about a horizontal axis wherein the sheave projects laterally out of the mounting tube; iv) a tubular metal liftarm mounting in the mounted tube for rotation about a vertical axis wherein the tubular liftarm is devoid of internal pulleys and external braces and other protuberances; v) the tubular liftarm including a lower vertically extending linear portion for insertion into the mounting tube, a laterally extending cantilevered upper portion, and an intermediate portion joined to the upper and lower portions by smooth curves; vi) a fitting coupled to the outboard end of the cantilevered upper portion and including a sheave journaled for rotation about a horizontal axis; vii) a load line having its outboard free end secured to the cantilevered
