Abstract: A phonograph tone arm and cartridge damping system in which a damper is coupled to a tone arm having a cartridge at one end thereof or to the cartridge itself and is adapted to ride on the surface of a record to minimize the effect of surface warps on the tone arm and cartridge. The damper includes a housing, a low friction piston slidable within the housing, and a glider adapted to ride on the surface of the record. The piston has an orifice therethrough to permit ambient air forced through the orifice to serve as the damping medium, or the piston and the housing have a preselected spacing between them to allow ambient air to flow therethrough. The glider has attached thereto a piece of soft velure or pile fabric, or a plurality of brush tips, which act to minimize friction between the glider surface and the record.
Abstract: A selective deceleration brake control system which enables the operator of an aircraft or other vehicle to preselect a rate of deceleration for the vehicle. The system produces a velocity reference signal which decreases in value at a rate indicative of the rate of vehicle deceleration selected by the operator. A signal indicative of actual wheel velocity is continuously produced and compared with the velocity reference signal to generate an error signal. The error signal is processed and used to produce a brake control signal. The system continuously controls braking effort to cause the vehicle to decelerate at the rate selected by the operator. The selective deceleration circuit cooperates with an anti-skid brake control circuit such that at any instant the circuit providing the higher brake release command will control.
Abstract: A paint spray control system for controlling a paint spray apparatus including a paint spray station having at least one spray gun and a conveyor for transporting objects of diverse styles is disclosed. The control system includes input means for depositing different sets of data words into a memory, some of the data words being in a first set representative of a predetermined position of an object of predetermined style and others being in a second set representative of the style of a specific object transported by the conveyor. The control system further includes means for supplying an increment signal representative of the position of an object transported by the conveyor relative to the spray station, and comparison means for comparing the increment signal and a specific one of the data words in the second set with the position and style information contained in data words in the first set.
Abstract: A machine for continuously laminating a flexible film onto a succession of glass substrates is disclosed. The machine comprises a conveyor, adapted to transport a succession of glass substrates along a horizontal plane toward substrate preparation means which wash one surface of each substrate. The machine further includes guide means for safely guiding and alignably transporting the succession of glass substrates from the substrate preparation means to a predetermined application line associated with application means. The application means are adapted to continuously unroll and expose a quantity of flexible film having a pressure sensitive adhesive surface at the predetermined application line which lies in the horizontal plane, whereby film is continuously laminated onto the surface of each successive glass substrate to produce sheets of shatter-proof glass.
