Abstract: A system and method for displaying medical information derived from a plurality of sources is described. Medical data associated with a patient are acquired from at least one of the plurality of sources on the network. The acquired data are prioritized for display in a desired order and/or time frame. A menu generator is used for generating a composite window for displaying the ordered acquired data in a first window together with at least one of user-entered medical notes, medical laboratory results and ventilator data in a second window.
Abstract: An undersea power generation apparatus (1) includes two turbines (3) mounted side by side at either side of a support strut of hydrofoil-shaped cross section, each turbine (3) having a set of turbine blades which counter rotate so as to cancel out the respective torque produced by each turbine. The apparatus (1) is pivotally interconnected at point (9) to a pair of mooring cables (7), which are releasably moored to the seabed (6). The turbines (3) are positively buoyant such that in zero current they point vertically upwards as denoted by (8). When the current flows in the direction shown by arrow A, the drag forces on turbines (3) and support strut cause the apparatus (1) to pivot about point (9) and pitch over into condition denoted by (10) and shown in broken lines.
Abstract: A suspension arrangement for the wheels of vehicles comprising links (1 & 2), of equal pivotal length rotatably attached to the chassis or body at one end, at upper and lower chassis attachment points (3 & 4), and an axle support link (7), locating a wheel axle (8), at one end and attached at its other ends (5 & 6) to the opposite ends of the links (1 & 2). The spacing between attachments (3 & 4) is double that between (5 & 6) and the centre distance between the axle and its link attachment points is the same as the pivotal length of links (1 & 2). The geometry of said arrangement constrains the movement of the axle/wheel rectilinearly between the chassis attachment points and the angular displacement of the axle support link focuses to an axis (10), exhibiting slight rectilinear displacement.
Abstract: A trunking section (50) is described and has a body (51) with sides (52a, 52b and 52c) which form a channel (54). Trunking section (50) also has an end portion (62) inserted into first end (56) such that it engages the internal surfaces of sides (52a, 52b and 52c) and is welded thereto. End portion (62) is provided with a first aperture (64) which is adapted to receive a bush connector (66) and has four curved edges (70) and four straight edges (72) therebetween. The bush connector (66) has a male part (74) and a female part (76). Male part (74) has a tubular body (78) which has an aperture (80), it has external first threaded surfaces (82) and rotation prevention means, in the form of flat portions (84). Bush connector (66) also has a female part (76) with an internal second thread (88) which engages first threaded portions (82) of male part (74).
Abstract: A pulse signal drive circuit includes an energy storage device. A source of energy supplies a substantially constant flow of energy to the energy storage device. A switch circuit draws repetitive pulses of substantially constant energy from the energy storage device to generate corresponding pulse drive signals.
Abstract: A vehicle (1) for travelling along a conduit (2) such as a pipeline having fluid flowing therein is disclosed. The vehicle comprises a first body carrying a first set of retractable bristles (12) for engaging an internal wall of the conduit such that the bristles resist movement of the first body in a first direction more than in a second direction, and a second set of retractable bristles (13) for engaging the internal wall of the conduit such that the bristles resist movement of the first body in the second direction more than in the first direction. A thread follower (16) carries a third set of resilient bristles (18) for engaging the internal wall of the conduit such that the bristles resist movement of the thread follower in the first direction more than in the second direction. A turbine (5) is actuated by fluid flow in the conduit to cause rotation of a reverse traverse screw (14) to move the first body and thread follower towards and away from each other.
Abstract: A brake assembly, in particular of a hydraulic wheel drive, comprising a disk package formed of a plurality of outer disks and corresponding inner disks, and compressible a piston assembly for braking. A first hydraulic cycle acts on the piston assembly for driving braking and a second hydraulic cycle acts on the piston assembly for parking braking. The piston assembly includes a driving brake piston which contacts the disk package and is able to be pressurized by the first hydraulic cycle and also able to be pressurized by an adjacent separate parking brake piston interacting with the second hydraulic cycle.
Abstract: A gearbox assembly, in particular for a wheel drive of a vehicle with a hydrostatic gearbox having, according to a first driving mode, the sun gear of the single planetary stage in effective interaction with a ring gear of the planetary stage via a first coupling, so that the output speed of the planetary stage is a linear function of the output speed of the hydrostatic gearbox and that, according to a second driving mode, the ring gear is in effective interaction with the hydrostatic gearbox, wherein, at the same time, the sun gear is in effective interaction with a gearbox input shaft via a second coupling so that as a consequence of power distribution, the speeds of the ring gear and the sun gear overlap.
