Abstract: An aqueous solution of precursors for biologically active glass, support particles coated with the solution, support particles coated with the glass, spheroidal particles of biologically active glass, processes for making the solution, coating the support, and for making the coated support and the spheroidal glass particles. The materials that comprise the biologically active glass are useful in prosthetic devices and implants for the human body.
Abstract: A photoimaging system and method for photoimaging employing said photoimaging system, the latter comprising (i) a photosensitive element having a substrate coated with a photosensitive layer containing dispersed silver halide particles in operative association with a continuous film-forming phase of polymeric coupler, the coupler characterized by the ability to couple with the developing agent of component (ii) to become insoluble in aqueous media; and (ii) an oxidized hydroquinone or aminophenol-type developing agent.
Abstract: .beta.-Substituted polyfluoroethyl compounds, process for the preparation thereof, copolymers thereof, compound intermediates, and process therefor. The copolymers are useful as ion exchange resins or structural foams.
Abstract: Substituted benzopentathiepins, their preparation from 1,2,3-benzothiadiazoles and elemental sulfur, selected 1,2,3-benzothiadiazoles; the benzopentathiepins being useful as biologically active compounds or as intermediates to 1,2-benzenedithiols.
Abstract: Aromatic-aliphatic diamines of the formula ##STR1## in which Ar is an arylene or substituted arylene are useful in preparing thermally stable, rigid, polyamides, polyureas and polyurethanes having a repeating unit of the formula ##STR2## in which Ar is arylene or substituted arylene, X is --NH-- or --O--, n is 0 or 1, and R is a divalent organic radical.
Abstract: Palladium/rhenium-on-carbon catalyst; a method employing said catalyst to produce tetrahydrofuran, 1,4-butanediol or mixtures thereof in selectable ratios from a number of starting reactants; and a method for making the Pd/Re/C catalyst.

Abstract: Process for the monoalkylation/monoarylation of dihaloaromatic compounds by treating the latter with selected magnesium or zinc organometallic reagents in the presence of a nickel/bidentate or tridentate phosphorus ligand. The products are intermediates to agricultural and pharmaceutical compounds.
Abstract: Alkyl perfluoro-.omega.-(2-iodoethoxy) compounds, vinyl ethers made therefrom, and a process for preparing the iodo-compounds. The vinyl ether monomers when copolymerized with halogenated 1-olefins are useful to form elastomers, rigid articles, or membranes and films having ion-exchange properties.
Abstract: Biologically active 8-aza-13-thiaprostanoids having the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is CH.dbd.CH (cis or trans), C.tbd.C, CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2, ##STR2## or CHOHCH.sub.2 ; R is H, C.sub.1 to C.sub.12 n-alkyl, branched chain alkyl, or cycloalkyl, or a physiologically acceptable metal or amine salt cation;R.sup.1 is H, CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 ;R.sup.2 is CH.sub.3 or CF.sub.3 ; andn is an integer from 4 to 9.
Abstract: Conjugated dienols for providing cure sites to air-drying acrylic finishes are prepared from conjugated dienoic acids by conversion to an activated ester followed by sodium borohydride reduction thereof.
Abstract: A photosensitive composition, a photosensitive element employing said composition, and an improved photoimaging method that utilizes the disclosed composition. The improved method concerns a photosensitive element, formed from a photosensitive composition having a substrate layered with silver halide particles in operative association with a polymeric coupler, latently imaged, developed to render the imaged area insoluble, and washed to remove the undeveloped portion of the layer, wherein the improvement comprises addition of selected dispersed pigments to the polymeric coupler so that the optical density of the final image is neutral black.
Abstract: A method for the hydrocarbylation of naphthoquinones comprising cross-coupling addition of the hydrocarbyl moiety of selected organometallic reagents to leaving group-substituted naphthoquinones.
Abstract: Certain 7-oxobicyclo[3.2.0] hept-2-en-2-carboxylic acids, esters, and salts thereof useful as antibacterial agents or as intermediates for antibacterial agents, and methods for making and using them.
