Abstract: The disclosure of this application is directed to a composition suitable for use in the fabrication of spiral wound hose comprising a mixture of a substantially linear ethylene polymer having a density of about 0.915 to about 0.935 and a melt index of about 0.1 to about 10.0, produced under low pressures, and an alkylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer containing at least about 19 percent by weight combined alkyl acrylate and having a melt index of about 0.5 to about 6.0.
Abstract: The disclosure of this application is directed to a composition based on an alkylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer, a polyhydric alcohol and an organio titanate, the cure rate of which can be retarded by the addition thereto of a molecular sieve. The composition disclosed can be extruded about wire and cables providing protective coatings thereon.
Abstract: A process for dispersing fine particle size carbon blacks in low density polyethylene whereby an initially prepared carbon black--low density polyethylene masterbatch, consisting of from 20-50 percent by weight carbon black, is let-down by intensive mixing, in a dry blended mixture of low density polyethylene and high density polyethylene, or propylene polymer, to form an intermediate masterbatch, which is further let-down in low density polyethylene by a second intensive mixing stage. The proportions of each component are chosen to yield a final product consisting of (on a weight basis) from 1-5% carbon black, 1-10% high density polyethylene or propylene polymer, and at least 50% of the remainder being low density polyethylene.

Abstract: The disclosure of this application is directed to a composition, devoid of added mineral filler, comprising an ethylene polymer and an organo titanate as a water treeing inhibitor. The compositions can be extruded about electrical conductors providing insulation thereon which is resistant to deterioration in the presence of moisture and an electrical field.
Abstract: Relatively stable masterbatch compositions are provided comprising a matrix having a polysiloxane dispersed therein, prepared by admixing a solid or liquid matrix, a monomeric silane and a silane condensation catalyst with the result that the monomeric silane condenses to a polysiloxane which is dispersed throughout the matrix per se or as a reactant therein. The masterbatch composition can be admixed with alkylene-alkyl acrylate copolymers in the presence of an organic titanate, to produce water-curable compositions, containing water-curable, silane modified alkylene-alkyl acrylate copolymers, which are useful as extrudates about wires and cables providing protective coatings thereon.
Abstract: Molybdenum is removed from a uranium bearing alkaline carbonate leach solution, by adding a compound which provides lead ion to react with the molybdenum present to form insoluble lead molybdate (PbMoO.sub.4) which precipitates from the solution.
Abstract: A process for embossing a twin-web of film is described wherein a length of two superimposed webs of film are heated to a temperature above the vicat softening point, then passing the webs between a pair of embossing rolls at least one of which has an engraved surface which is sufficiently cooled to cool the webs to a temperature below the vicat softening point. The embossed webs are then passed into the nip of a pair of counter rotating driven rolls each having a high friction surface, separating the webs downstream of the nip by each of the webs maintaining contact with the surface of its respective driven roll, releasing each of the webs from its respective driven roll by continuing its passage over a co-operating pick-up or nip roll and then drawing each of the webs to separate wind-up stations.
