  • Patent number: 4978249
Abstract: A system for the safe storage of fluids, such as fuels or other toxic materials. A fluid storage tank is accessibly housed within a water tight, reinforced concrete, underground compartment. Piping and electrical lines run through an accessible, water tight chase in communicating with the storage tank, its housing compartment, fluid pumps, sensors, alarms, and fire extinguishing systems. Free access to the tank within its housing compartment is available so that the tank and its compartment may be inspected and maintained. Because the tank is not buried in gravel or the like, its replacement is a relatively simple and inexpensive task. Fluids which are spilled or leaked, including washdown fluids are recovered for proper disposal. Local seismic conditions are considered in the design of the reinforced concrete housing to assure against cracking and resultant leakage through the walls and floors of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4932662
Abstract: A means and method for testing the lie angle of a golf club to see if it is suitable for use by an individual golfer. A golf ball is situated on a support surface and addressed by a golfer holding a traial golf club whose lower surface has received in abradable coating. The golfer swings at the golf ball bringing the abradable coating on the golf club into contact with the surface originally supporting the ball. This contact causes abrasions in the abradable coating and the position of these abrasions indicates whether the lie angle of the particular club undergoining test is proper for the golfer.

  • Patent number: 4926657
Abstract: A cooler which uses evaporative cooling pads and heat pipes in complementary arrangement. The combined operation of these two elements permits the cooler to operate efficiently under temperature and humidity conditions at which conventional evaporative coolers prove impractical to use. The heat pipes serve the purpose normally fulfilled by evaporators and compressors in a refrigeration system. However, since there is no need for a compressor in the invention, the costs of purchasing and operating and maintaining a compressor operated refrigeration system are obviated. The invention provides the user with the performance of a refrigerant coolant system at the operating costs of an evaporative cooler system.

  • Patent number: 4919405
Abstract: A fletching guide for attaching pre-formed flights to arrow shafts. Fletching guides, in number equivalent to the number of flights to be attached to an arrow shaft, are splayed outwardly from the central axis of the tool. Pre-formed flights are placed in the guide and adhesive is applied along the edge of the flight which will contact the arrow shaft. The guides bearing the flights with adhesive applied are then moved to a position so as to embracingly encompass the arrow shaft and hold the flights in position until the adhesive has cured. To accommodate special circumstances, a nock aligning means within the tool is rotatingly displacable so as to selectedly position the arrow flights on the arrow shaft in a desired geometric relationship with the nock at the end of the arrow shaft.

  • Patent number: 4920549
Abstract: A Time Demand Counter permits a sensor to be mechanically coupled, by quick connect/disconnect means, to the power feed line of a monitored device with little disruption of the power feed circuitry. The sensor is nonloading in that essentially no energy is drawn from the monitored device's feed line to power the Time Demand Counter. Unlike current transformers previously used, the sensor does not have to be varied to complement the current drawn by the monitored device. A long useful battery life is assured for internally powered embodiments of the invention. Also, since the invention accumulates the record of ON/OFF cycles, as well as the total accumulated demand time, the average time the monitored device is used each time demand is placed on it can be readily determined.

  • Patent number: 4804328
Abstract: A student interactive teaching system allows the student to learn at a level of skill appropriate to the student's learning achievements and learning abilities. The student progresses at a rate selected by the student. Ample opportunity is provided for the student to support and reinforce the learning process through student commanded repetition and review. The lessons are personalized by the recording and storage of student commentary. Video masking of the visual presentation allows the student to challenge his/her understanding of the subject matter when visual cues are inhibited. So too, the inhibition of audible cues tests the students abilities to learn and repeat verbal skills, such as are required in the theatrical arts.

  • Patent number: 4783922
Abstract: A calendar system for training and enhancing the memory of a person practicing the methodology of the system. Two calendars are arranged side by side. The first calendar is permanent and reused each year. The user notes thereon events of perennial significance for reference at appropriate times throughout each year, thus regularly refreshing the users recollection of these events and enhancing the user's memory thereof. The second calendar is temporary in nature and meant to be replaced at regular intervals. Unlike the first calendar, the second is provided with indicia representative of the instant calendar year, as well as indicia representing the day-names of the week. The user records on this second calendar current and near-future events of transient significance. This second calendar is disposed of and a replacement provided therefor at selected regular intervals since the record of transient event data is not intended for perennial reference.
