Patent number: 4328869Abstract: An implement with a wing lift wherein the wing is displaceable from a wheel supported floating, ground working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position where it lies inverted on the implement. The wing lift includes a pair of toggle links with one link pivotally connected to the wing hinge, a stop on the wing hinge, a lift arm pivotally connected to the implement central frame hinge structure and to the other toggle link and a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the central frame with the rod end pivotally connected to the lift arm and the other link of the toggle links. The lift arm also has a roller for contact by the wing hinge ramp. The toggle link construction allows the wing to float upwardly and downwardly in the working position without affecting the cylinder. The toggle links, upon abutting the stop, raise the wing when the cylinder is retracted until the links break wherein the roller engages the wing hinge ramp to support the wing to and in the inverted position without wing fall.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1981Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Marvin P. Patent number: 4237985Abstract: A device that includes a bracket, a hydraulic cylinder having an end pivotally mounted on an axis of the bracket, a first link pivotally mounted on the bracket on one side of the cylinder and pivotally connected to the extension end of the cylinder, a support structure pivotally mounted on the axis and having a plurality of earth working tools, and a second link pivotally mounted on the support structure on the other side of the cylinder and pivotally connected to the extension end of the cylinder. The device, including the bracket, is particularly arranged and constructed to be mounted on a multi-hitch structure for a plurality of grain drills to remove a tractor track prior to planting. The cylinder rotates the device from a working position to a transport position that is substantially in excess of 90.degree. therefrom. Tool depth adjustment and levelling means are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1979Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Heiner J. Hoefkes

Patent number: 4186806Abstract: A variable width furrow-spacing plow system embodied in an implement having a laterally adjustable tractor hitch, an angularly adjustable plow-carrying main frame, and hydraulic means for correlating the lateral movement of the hitch and angular position of the frame, to the end that for any given furrow spacing the hitch point of the implement will fall closer to the line of pull than has heretofore been possible, and minimum pulling force will be required to motivate the implement. The system embodies a pull bar or frame which has its forward end pivoted to the adjustable tractor hitch and its rear end pivoted to a medial region of the plow-carrying frame. A hydraulic ram controls the lateral adjustment of the hitch, while a second ram controls the angularity between the pull frame and the main frame. The two rams are phased for operation in unison under the control of a valve in the cab of the tractor.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1977Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Gerald G. Patent number: 4184610Abstract: An adjustment that includes preferably a pair of spaced, resiliently supported, holders for supporting a cut-off brush against the perforated inner periphery of an air charged, seed containing rotatable drum to remove excess seeds therefrom. The holders rotatably support a pair of brackets having rotatably mounted gauge rollers that engage the inner periphery of the drum. One of the brackets is rotatably adjustable relative to one of the holders to vary the position of the holders and thus the brush in relation to the drum interior for different size seeds.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1979Date of Patent: January 22, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: Werner H. Patent number: 4171726Abstract: A folding sectional tool bar for agricultural implements and including a series of articulated hollow sections connected together in end-to-end fashion so as to provide an inner main-section, a pair of outer sections, and a pair of intermediate sections. An offset hinge joint between each outer section and its adjacent intermediate section permits them to be latched in an aligned working arrangement and allows generally horizontal folding of the outer sections forwardly relative to the adjacent intermediate sections. An offset hinge joint between each intermediate section and its adjacent main section permits the intermediate sections to float down about 5.degree. relative to the main section and allows vertical folding of the intermediate sections relative to such main section. Hydraulic two-stage cylinders are provided whereby an initial partial fold of 5.degree. intermediate sections can elevate them relative to the inner main section to an angle of about 5.degree.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1977Date of Patent: October 23, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Gerald G. Ward

Patent number: 4161986Abstract: A plow mounting bracket for variable width plows including a mounting post having a free end that extends upwardly from a hub portion and is pivotally received by the plow main frame. The plow bracket can be used for plows that are secured at selected widths or plows in which the width can be varied during the operation of the plow.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1977Date of Patent: July 24, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Gerald G. Patent number: 4127179Abstract: A scraper mechanism for the disk gangs of disk harrows and embodying a series of flexible scraper arms, one for each disk, which depend from a common scraper support and carry scraper blades at their lower ends. The upper ends of the scraper arms are turned laterally and provide short attachment sections of wide angle concavo-convex configuration. A clamping bolt extends through the apex of each section and the support and, upon tightening thereof progressively flattens the section against the support and thus swings the depending portion of the scraper arm in the direction of the respective disk for regulating the pressure of the scraper blade against the disk. Means are provided for shifting the position of the common scraper support so that collective adjustment of the various scraper blades may be effected.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1976Date of Patent: November 28, 1978Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: Evert J.
