  • Patent number: 5165665
Abstract: The adjustable jack mechanism of this invention incorporates a base structure having a support tube, with a plurality of angulated leg supports projecting radially therefrom and which allow pivoting of the support legs to positions parallel with the support tube. A plurality of support legs are pivotally connected to the leg support elements and are stabilized relative to the support tube by a support ring and pivotal support links. An elevation tube is telescopically movable within the support tube and is selectively locked relative thereto by a primary lock including a locking ring that is angulated by an external locking element for frictional gripping relation with the elevation tube. A jack screw is telescopically positioned within the elevation tube and is vertically adjustable by rotation of an adjustment nut for raising or lowering an object support provided at the upper end thereof.

  • Patent number: 5062239
Abstract: A method and apparatus for watering hanging or potted plants including suspension of a drippage collection receptacle from the container of the hanging plant which has an upwardly directed opening of larger dimension than the dimension of the container of the hanging plant. A liquid transfer tube extends from an outlet connector disposed at the lower portion of the receptacle and being of sufficient length such that its free end is positionable above the upper end of the receptacle and is capable of extending downwardly a predetermined distance below the receptacle. A tube retainer is provided at the upper end of the receptacle for releasably positioning the free end of the liquid transfer tube above the liquid level in the receptacle. The liquid transfer tube may also include a pump for transfer of liquid from the receptacle to the container of the hanging plant such as for recirculation of water and nutrients to the hanging plant.

  • Patent number: 5016570
Abstract: A collapsible carrying container for animals includes top, bottom and opposed side walls which are in hinged assembly by means of four elongate hinges that extend substantially the entire length of the container. The top, bottom and side walls are capable of forming a rectangular animal enclosure and are enabled by the hinges to collapse in the manner of a parallelogram to a substantially flat condition. Opposed end walls are hingedly connected to the bottom wall and include out-turned structural flanges on the top, bottom and sides thereof for enhancement of the structural integrity of the end portions of the animal carrier unit. The hinges are connected to the outer edges of the lower out-turned structural flanges, thus permitting the end walls to be positioned within the rectangular enclosure. Locks are provided at the end portions of the top wall and include hooks that engage about the superposed ends of the top wall and out-turned structural flanges to thereby lock the end walls in place.

  • Patent number: 4934028
Abstract: A shrimp deheading and grading mechanism which incorporates a shrimp deheading structure forming a shrimp deheading station. A shrimp conveyor and orienter is operative for conveying shrimps oriented in head-up, body down position to the shrimp deheading station. A shrimp deheading wheel having a plurality of flexible or rigid shrimp deheading fingers projecting therefrom is rotatable at the shrimp deheading station and contacts the shrimp heads to remove them from the bodies by means of a "flicking" action. The conveyor incorporates a plurality of pan segments which collectively form a movable trough having a slot at the bottom portion thereof. Shrimps smaller than a preselected size range will fall through the slot while shrimp of the preselected size range will be gripped and supported by the opposed pan segments of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4925344
Abstract: A buried pipe replacement system incorporating an elongated tapered grinding head having a helical cutter element disposed about the periphery and extending substantially along the length thereof. The grinding head is also provided with fluid ejection ports, enabling drilling fluid/lubricant material to be ejected therefrom as the drilling head is rotated and moved linearly against the buried existing pipe. The pipe grinding operation reduces the buried existing pipe to a pulverant form wherein the particulate resulting from grinding away the existing pipe forms a bedding composition lining at least the side and bottom portions of the resulting bore and thereby providing for optimum support of a replacement pipe which is towed into position within the bore simultaneously with the pipe grinding operation. A swivel connection allows rotation of the grinding head without inducing rotation to the replacement pipe following the grinding head.

  • Patent number: 4909502
Abstract: A passive jaw exerciser is provided for application of an anatomically applied jaw moving force for pivoting of the jaw at its tempero-mandibular joint or to provide a motion to the jaw which is beneficial in facial orthopedics. A body structure is provided having guide tracks which guide movement of a carriage according to the character of movement that is desired. The carriage is movable by a lever operated push rod to thereby cause corresponding movement of a mandibular jaw piece supported by a carriage relative to a maxillary jaw piece supported by the exerciser body. The position of engagement between the lever and the push rod is adjustable through selection of any one of a number of spaced slots that are formed in parallel webs of the lever structure.

  • Patent number: 4886115
Abstract: A pressure containing wireline safety mechanism for wireline assemblies incorporates a tubular body for attachment between the lubricators and stuffing box of the wireline assembly. An inner housing is releasably retained within the tubular body and is provided with a wireline cutter to cut the wireline and release a wireline tool string that is stuck in a position blocking closure of the wellhead saftey valves and the wireline blowout preventor. The inner housing also incorporates a valve mechanism that automatically forms a pressure containing seal after the wireline has been cut to thus permit the stuffing box to be removed and another wireline assembly installed above the first wireline assembly for removing the inner housing and releasing the stuck wireline tool string.

  • Patent number: 4885844
Abstract: Apparatus permitting factory tailored manufacture of clothing includes a body covering having measurement tapes which are worn by a person undergoing body measurement. Apparatus is also provided to measure crotch and armpit dimensions. The body dimensions of the person being measured are then inspected by a video camera having an output through a video cassette recorder and a computer capable of transmitting measurement date electronically to a remote location where it is received by receiving computer apparatus that converts the measurement signals to a wire frame representation of the exact body dimensions of the person. These body dimensions are then utilized for adjustment of an adjustable mannequin to the exact body dimensions of the person being measured. Thereafter, clothing is tailored to the adjustable mannequin and can then be delivered to the person without any necessity for additional adjustment.
