  • Patent number: 5049294
Abstract: Improved dispersant/VI improver luboil additives are produced by reacting a hydrogenated conjugated diene star polymer or block copolymer with an alpha, beta unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative to form an activated star polymer, which is then reacted with a) an alkyl carboxylic acid and b) an alkylamine or alkane polyol, or with the preformed product of reactants a) and b).

  • Patent number: 5035820
Abstract: Lubricating oil compositions which contain hydrogenated diene star polymers grafted with N-vinylimidazole exhibit improved engine performance when prepared by grafting the polymer in an oil mixture containing at least 6% by weight of the star polymer. The grafting is accomplished by contacting the polymer with from about 3.0 to about 5.5 wt % N-vinylimidazole when N-vinylimidazole is the sole reactant and from about 1.0 to about 5.0 wt % N-vinylimidazole when N-vinylimidazole is used in combination with N-vinylpyrrolidone.

  • Patent number: 5034431
Abstract: Glass fiber reinforced linear alternating polymers of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon show good mechanical properties when the glass fiber employed for reinforcement contains a sizing with an aminosilane functional group, and a polymeric film former with polyurethane and epoxy functional groups, and is present in an amount of from about 1 to 45 weight percent of the reinforced fiber.

  • Patent number: 5028652
Abstract: Stabilized polymer compositions comprise a linear alternating polymer of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon incorporating a stabilizing quantity of a zinc aluminate and, optionally, an acidic polymer containing moieties of an .alpha.-olefin and an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. The compositions demonstrate improved melt stability.
