  • Patent number: 4427006
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument for providing an interface between an electrosurgical electrode and an electrosurgical generator and for selectively providing electrical energy to the electrode for cutting, coagulation and the like, is provided. A hollow handle removably supports an electrode in one end and receives a three wire cable through an opening in its other end. The wires of the cable are supported and positioned on a substantially flat insert which has three flat-headed contact pins forced therein to penetrate the outer insulation of the wires and establish electrical contact with the wires. A conductor plate overlies the insert and is equipped with four conductor strips for contacting the electrode and the three contact pins, respectively. Switch buttons have stems that extend through apertures in the wall of the handle for selectively activating the conductor strips.

  • Patent number: 4422131
Abstract: A light adapted to be worn on a human finger has a substantially hollow housing having the general configuration of a finger with an opening therein into which a human finger may be positioned. A pressure-activated light source in the form of a bulb, a battery and a spring for maintaining the bulb and battery spaced from one another is positioned in a closed end of the housing and adapted to be activated when a finger inserted into the housing forces the battery against the contact of the bulb.

  • Patent number: 4073179
Abstract: A device is disclosed for removing a clip member having arms foldable about a midsection into clamping engagement about opposite sides of a tubular member. The device has a pair of jaws pivotally mounted for movement toward and away from one another. One jaw has an anvil on the tip thereof facing the other jaw and a shoulder is provided on the anvil to act as a stop for the midsection of the clip member. The other jaw has a clip deforming element facing the anvil and when the jaws are moved toward one another the element contacts the anvil at a location spaced from the shoulder. To remove a clip, the clip midsection is positioned on the anvil against the shoulder and the clip deforming element is moved toward the anvil with the clip midsection therebetween. The clip arms are thereby opened by the resultant deformation that occurs in the area of the midsection facing the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4070713
Abstract: A medical glove adapted to tightly conform to a wearer's skin and to be donned without the use of additional lubricants is formed with an outer layer of elastomeric material, an inner layer of elastomeric material bonded to the outer layer and particulate matter securely embedded in and randomly distributed throughout the inner layer. The particulate matter is preferably partially exposed on the inner, skin-contacting surface of the inner layer so that it extends inwardly beyond the surface of the inner layer to provide a lubricating means to facilitate donning of the glove without the use of additional lubricants. A method for making the unique medical glove is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4047251
Abstract: A uniquely contoured glove adapted to tightly conform to a wearer's hand is made by depositing an elastomeric material on a relatively flat glove form having recessed areas covering substantially the entire surface of the hand-forming and finger-forming portions of the form except for a peripheral edge surrounding the recessed areas. The resulting glove, when stripped from the form and reversed, has a hand portion, an open end cuff portion and a plurality of elongated finger-receiving compartments, each of said compartments and said hand portion having a transverse cross-sectional configuration formed by four outwardly curved sections connected by four inwardly curved sections.

  • Patent number: 3991763
Abstract: A wound drainage container for withdrawing and collecting body fluids from a patient is equipped with a valved fluid inlet port and with a fluid outlet port having a one-way valve for emptying the container and for preventing the entry of contaminants into the container. A gate movable between a first position and a second position is provided for actuating the inlet valve. When the gate is in the first position it opens the inlet valve and covers the outlet valve which is located adjacent the inlet valve, and when the gate is in the second position it closes the inlet valve and uncovers the outlet valve so that fluid in the container may be emptied therefrom without the danger of the fluid being flushed back into the patient's wound.
