  • Patent number: 4261185
Abstract: An ornamental finger ring having in-built adjusting means enclosed within an interior slot in the shank and movable therein to constrict the opening and provide a plurality of selectable smaller finger openings to insure a snug fit and concurrently preserve the external appearance and contour of the ring. The adjusting means is a U-shaped finger-contacting member with resilient upper arms. Coacting means are on the ring and arms for adjustably latching the member in position. A tab at the member bight extends to the outside of the ring for manual manipulation, and the tab may have a slot dividing it at the part proximal to the bight to enhance its yieldability and make assembly into the ring less likely to permanently deform the member.Wendel shows a ring with a shank including an adjustable U-shaped member.

  • Patent number: 4235152
Abstract: A stabilizer for a gun comprising a tubular element is adapted to fit on the muzzle end of a gun barrel or flash hider and is releasably secured in position by a stop carried by a lever pivoted on the element. The lever is yieldably urged by resilient means to move the stop through an opening in the element and into a recess in the barrel or flash hider. A plurality of stabilizing vents are provided in the element for discharging combustion gases from the gun and a plurality of exterior gas directing projections on the element are associated with certain of the vents for directing the gases from all of the associated vents essentially in the same direction to one side of the element.

  • Patent number: 4223541
Abstract: An ornamental finger ring having in-built adjusting band enclosed within an interior slot in the shank and movable therein to constrict the opening and provide a plurality of selectable smaller finger openings to insure a snug fit and concurrently preserve the external appearance and contour of the ring. The band is detachably secured to the ring by latching means on the shank and band and has a tab projecting through an exteriorly opening tab slot in the shank by means of which it can be adjusted. The band latching means are carried at the ends of reversely bent resilient arms.

  • Patent number: 4094072
Abstract: A fixture to facilitate measuring and adjusting the loft and lie angles of a golf club or iron comprises a guide having a plane indexing surface pivotally adjustable to various standard loft angles, and having upper and lower shoes for clamping the head of the club therebetween in predetermined alignment whereat the score lines on the club face are horizontal, the face is flush with the indexing surface, and the sole of the head is seated on the lower shoe at only two locations adjacent the rounded junctures respectively of the sole with the heel and toe of the head, the latter location being elevated with respect to the former. The upper shoe is movable parallel to the indexing surface toward the lower shoe in the clamping action, has a rounded cam engageable with only a mid-location of the top edge of the head for camming the head toward the indexing surface and lower shoe, and has limited universal lost motion for adjusting the cam to the angle of the top edge during the clamping action.

  • Patent number: 4060719
Abstract: The face of the keyboard of a typical minicomputer is provided with a triangle having its sides and angles closely associated with certain of the computer operating keys to facilitate determination of the dimension of an unknown side or angle when the dimensions of a sufficient number of the other sides and angles are known to enable the necessary calculation.

  • Patent number: 3930667
Abstract: An inflatable garment or suit of clothing worn by a motorcycle rider is detachably connected with a source of pressurized gas operative to inflate the suit in response to a predetermined deceleration of the motorcycle, or manual operation of a trigger adjacent the motorcycle hand grip when a crash or spill appears to be inevitable. If the rider jumps or is thrown from the motorcycle, the suit will pull loose from the gas source by virtue of the detachable connection and will remain inflated for an appreciable time interval to protect the rider from multiple impacts. The detachable connection is also manually operative to permit the rider to disengage the suit in its non-inflated condition from the gas source without triggering the latter, and thereby to leave the motorcycle while still wearing the suit.
