Abstract: A graphic interface configuration system is allows a user to create a graphic interface for a computer program in which graphic elements in the interface are linked to variables or functions in any one of a number of programming elements.
Abstract: A sense amplifier for detecting the voltage state (high or low) of the bit line of a programmable logic device with improved switching speed when the voltage state changes. When the bit line is high, a pull-up circuit including a cascode limits the maximum bit line voltage while isolating the output node from a supply of positive potential. At the same time, a transistor turned on by the high bit line voltage connects the output node to ground. An inverting amplifier on the output node produces an amplified output that follows the bit line. When the bit line is low, the conductance of a transistor gated by the bit line is substantially reduced, resulting in a relatively small conductance between the source line and ground, so that the source line potential rises significantly.
Abstract: A cigarette carton adapted to contain two rows of five cigarette packs per row. The carton is formed from two substantially identical cartons which are each adapted to contain one row of five cigarette packs. The two cartons are connected along their front walls, which face one another, with a joining strip which is placed over or between the tops of the front walls. The cartons are also connected along their bottom walls with a label. These connections keep the two cartons securely connected when in the ten-pack configuration so that they can be processed through standard machinery for processing ten-pack cartons, such as tax-stamping machinery. The cartons can readily be separated by a consumer for the sale of an individual five-pack carton.

Abstract: An apparatus (3) is installed in place of a cigarette support, for example. The force applied by loads (22, 23) to a force-measurement cell (31), mounted on a motorized slider (33) and moving parallel to said loads, is measured as a function of the displacement. A processing unit plots a graph depicting the force measured as a function of the displacement; any imperfection of the surface condition of the slides (22a, 23a) can be spotted on the graph. The movement-checking method and apparatus apply to the checking of any rectilinear movement of a guided object subjected to a constant force, and particularly to the checking of the state of wear of the slides of equipment for measuring the compressibility of articles produced in the tobacco industry.

Abstract: A dual cigarette carton is formed from two identical single cartons. The two cartons are connected together with adhesive bearing carrier means such that the two cartons remain securely connected when in the dual configuration and can hence be processed for tax-stamping through standard machinery and distributed to the consumer as a dual unit. The use of adhesive bearing carrier means such as stickers allows for convenient and acceptable methods of separation of the dual carton for individual purchase of the single cartons.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for erasing an array of electrically erasable EPROM cells that avoids overerasure and allows programming or erasure of individual cells are provided. An erase line for each column of the array applies erase potential to the erase node of each cell in the column, provided that the erase node is connected to the erase line by a transistor controlled by a row select line. A sense amplifier determines when each cell begins to conduct and disconnects that cell from its erase line. By selecting a particular row, and then applying erase potential only to selected erase lines, a pattern of erased and programmed cells can be created in each row. The pattern differs from row to row depending on which erase lines have erase potential applied when that row is selected. Bias differences between erase and read modes assure that the erased cells, which have gone slightly into depletion, are not in depletion in normal operation.
Abstract: A hand-held corded vacuum cleaner having a housing with a motor compartment containing a motor mounted on partitions defining inlet, cooling and outlet chambers for efficient motor cooling by air which enters inlet and exits outlet vents in the inlet and outlet chambers, respectively. A dirt channel extends from a fan chamber having a fan mounted by being swaged on a motor shaft. A nozzle chamber is disposed at one end of the housing and a bag assembly is removably detached from the rear of the housing by means of a collar having a side hole through which a detent extends and which may be depressed to remove the bag assembly. The nozzle is in communication with the fan chamber and the fan pushes dirt through a dirt channel over the motor compartment into the bag of the bag assembly. The motor shaft has a pulley at the end thereof which is connected to a brush which is releasably retained in the nozzle compartment. A belt extends around the brush and the pulley.

Abstract: A roller for use in fibrillating oriented films of polyolefin materials having a plurality of pins projecting from the surface of the roller. The pins are distributed in a plurality of rows spaced around the roller surface. The rows each contain about 25 to 34 pins per inch in a space-staggered relationship along two adjacent lines extending along the surface of the roller, either in a linear relationship inclined to a line parallel to the axis or rotation, or in a sinusoidal relationship with adjacent rows being in or out of phase. The roller is rotated and the film is advanced over the rotating roller surface for an arc length of contact of about 30 to 37 degrees to fibrillate the film. The ratio of the surface speed of the roller to the advancing film are controlled to a ratio between from about 1.8:1 to about 2.2:1.
