  • Patent number: 5536110
Abstract: A transition collar for use in road construction comprises an annular collar member made of elastomeric materials such as rubber. It has a generally planar top surface and a central opening sized to accommodate a rigid frame structure having an access opening formed therein. The collar member has a vertical outer wall that faces the road material, which outer wall has a number of horizontally extending, spaced apart ridges formed thereon. These ridges assist in securing the collar in a road bed. Preferably the uppermost ridge is spaced below the top surface of the collar. The collar can have a number of small bumps distributed over its top surface to improve traction for vehicles. Preferably these bumps have sloping sidewalls extending about their periphery. A cushioning device is used to adjust the position of the frame structure and comprises a flat, elastomeric member with exterior dimensions corresponding to those of the frame structure.

  • Patent number: 5490557
Abstract: In a heat recovery ventilator, a housing has an inlet and an outlet for a first fluid flow and an inlet and an outlet for a second fluid flow, and has a heat exchange panel assembly having two sets of panels alternately arranged to form a first and a second flow path for each of the first fluid flow and the second fluid. The first flow path is in fluid communication with the first fluid flow inlet and outlet and the second flow path is in fluid communication with the second fluid flow inlet and outlet. The heat exchange panel is slidably mounted within the housing. A first fan and a second fan is mounted on a fan mounting plate. The fan mounting plate is hingedly mounted to the housing and is pivotable between a servicing position and an operational position.

  • Patent number: 5477559
Abstract: An extensible shin guard comprises a knee pad section and a shin protector section. A tongue member extends from the knee pad section and is adapted to extend along an interior surface of the shin protector section. The tongue has a fastener for releasably attaching the knee pad section to the shin protector section, spacing the knee pad section from the shin protector section at one of a plurality of positions for extending the shin guard. A joint pad extends from the knee pad section for overlying an area between the knee pad section and the shin protector section.

  • Patent number: 5477907
Abstract: An apparatus for delivering a metered shot of molten metal from a dispensing vessel through a shot tube comprises: a dispensing vessel for holding molten metal and having a shot tube for discharge of the molten metal, a reservoir of gas for pressurizing the dispensing vessel, a variable regulator for regulating the flow of gas. The regulator has a backload for varying the pressure at which the regulator regulates the flow of gas. An exhaust vent vents the dispensing vessel to the atmosphere. A supply valves opens and closes the delivery of gas to the holding vessel.
