Abstract: A process of curing and cross-linking methylhydrosiloxanes by contacting and forming a mixture of an allyl ester with at least one methylhydrosiloxane in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst, and heating the mixture of the allyl ester, the methylhydrosiloxane, and the Group VIII metal catalyst, in the presence of ambient moisture until the methylhydrosiloxane becomes cured and cross-linked.
Abstract: A method of treating textiles in order to increase the water absorptivity of the textiles involving contacting the textiles with an effective amount of a dioxolane functional organosilicon compound. Representative of the dioxolane or ketal functional organosilicon compounds employed are sym(2,2-dimethyl-4-methyloylpropyl-1,3-dioxolane) disiloxane and sym(2,2-dimethyl-4-methyl-oylpropyl-1,3-dioxolane) polydimethylsiloxane.
Abstract: A coating for a paper substrate produced by contacting and forming a mixture of an allyl ester with at least one methylhydrosiloxane in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst, coating the mixture on the substrate, and heating the mixture of the allyl ester, the methylhydrosiloxane, the substrate, and the Group VIII metal catalyst, in the presence of ambient moisture until the methylhydrosiloxane becomes cured and cross-linked.
Abstract: A polish formulation containing as components at least one member selected from the group consisting of waxes, solvents, surfactants, thickening agents, abrasives, dyes, odorants, and other ingredients normally used in making polishes, and as an improvement incorporating a composition which is the reaction product of an acid anhydride and an aminofunction siloxane. Abstract: A precipitation polymerization process for producing a macroporous cross-linked copolymeric lattice, capable of adsorbing hydrophilic and lipophilic fluids, in which process there is copolymerized at least one monounsaturated monomer and at least one polyunsaturated monomer in the presence of an organic liquid which is a solvent for the monomers but not for the copolymer, initiating the copolymerization of the monomers by means of a free radical generating catalytic compound, precipitating a copolymer in the solvent in the form of a powder, and forming a dry powder by removing the solvent from the precipitated copolymeric powder. One monomer is a hydrophilic compound and the other monomer is a lipophilic compound.

Abstract: This invention relates to solid emollient-moisturizer compositions, and in particular relates to compositions wherein an emollient-moisturizer is entrapped in the lattice of the cross-linked polymer during in situ polymerization of the monomers forming the polymer lattice. The invention provides for conversion of solid and/or liquid emollients or moisturizers into solid, free-flowing forms by entrapment of the functional materials in a hydrophobic polymer lattice.
